Parenting after a Loss

~Gknauff~ (ct103)

Is K sleeping any better yet? I remember that you were having an unswaddled nightmare. I hope it's getting better!

  • OMG! I'm 58 weeks pregnant?! I must be huge! Guess I just outed myself as a mobile user. I'll fix it when I'm back on a computer.

I'm sorry that sleep is still such a struggle. You must feel like a zombie! I do think the paci is a good step in the right direction, I know it helped us a lot. I'm pleased to say that L has STTN in her crib for the last three nights. Last week I started fresh with a whole new routine where I lay her down sleepy but not asleep, then use a combination of a paci, baby Einstein music box, sleep sheep, patting her or holding her hand and shushing her. Then I tiptoe out when she is asleep or very close. If she fusses I race back in and soothe her to sleep again. This process has taken anywhere from 15 mins to 2 hours, but it's still better than before! I'm very gently trying to teach her to self soothe without letting her CIO.

Sadly, nursing is not going well for us (update post coming soon) so she's taking a bottle in the evenings too. It's possible that her bottle is making her more satisfied (even though it's BM) and therefore reducing her MOTN's, I don't know. Ultimately it's the baby's decision to STTN, all we can really do is encourage them! I really hope K adjusts soon and you can finally get some sleep! Big hugs, you're doing so well with her :)
