Has anyone given birth at the birthing center at Bon Secours at DePaul? I am looking for CNMs covered by Tricare/military insurance and I just found this one. If you have and have Tricare standard, were the costs low?
Hi! I heard they really cater to military there at Bon Secours....but I am giving birth most likely alone with no friends nor family at Portsmouth Naval Hospital here in Norfolk....sigh while my husband is deployed.
...
Anywho, in Virginia they love love love Tri-Care members because it's really good
Um the costs are simply low um I think couple hundred dollar co-payments..not thousands of dollars. Hoorayy
Hi! I'm new to the bump--but thought I'd respond to this post first since I actually have something to say about it.
I was a patient at the Midwifery Center at DePaul for my first child, and am again for my second. I ended up having to give birth in Labor & Delivery at DePaul because my son was having heart issues, but a midwife delivered him (per my original plan).
I literally cannot recommend them enough. The OB who supervised my labor was pretty much a saint/hero/angel who saved me from having a c-section, and the midwives are pretty much the best things ever. They are fully supportive of natural birth, doulas, and letting the moms do what they need to do during labor.
The nurses in L&D were also amazing, except for one who laughed at me during a contraction and pretty much got in a yelling match with my husband when he told her that I didn't want an epidural and to stop asking me. But seriously, other than that girl, everything was incredible.
Oh--and I had private insurance + Tricare the first time and didn't have to pay anything. This time I only have Tricare standard (I don't think the midwifery center takes Prime) b/c I only work part time now, and I still haven't paid anything out of pocket except for the NIPN testing.
