Any other lap-nappers?

My LO still resists crib naps. I always wind up giving into lap naps. Am I the only one left? Please say I'm not alone!

Re: Any other lap-nappers?

  • DD doesn't refuse crib naps altogether, but she still sleeps much better on someone. She will nap anywhere from 20 to 60 minutes in her crib, but will easily sleep two hours on one of us.

We only resort to non-crib naps if it's looking like she will be sleep deprived otherwise, but they definitely still happen!

  • We lap nap all the time. I make a point that one nap is on her bed a day but otherwise, she sleeps on me (like, right now). I don't mind. She sleeps excellently at night and goes down without tears in 10 mins so I'm willing to make some allowances on naps since she's not as good at the whole napping thing. I also do it because I live a ways out of town and any days I need to do errands, I have no choice but to mess up her nap schedule. Letting her sleep on me makes sure we do as little damage as possible to her sleep.
  • Yep, my kid is still held for about 90% of naps. He just can't seem to stay asleep when I put him down. He struggles at night too. Sleep is just his most high need area. I am a really light sleeper so it's not that surprising. Of all the things he could have gotten from Dad...

  • DS3 refuses to sleep in his crib.  I think he has slept there about 4 nights and maybe a nap or two.  This kid thinks sleeping is optional.  Having older kids, I have to do car line 3 times a day.  The past two days DS3 has fallen asleep for every car line so I guess he has decided that is his new crib.  Otherwise, it is in my arms.

  • My DD prefers lap naps and I let her. Partly because I usually need a nap too and love the cuddles.

  • My daughter would lap nap if we let her.  She naps in her crib though, typically at the same time my son naps (the six month old is already down to one nap, same as that three year old.)  We really had to just let her CIO a few times in her crib and now she pretty much just passes out whenever we put her in there.

  • It's the only way DS will take a nap! I've tried and tried to get him to sleep independently during the day, but he can sleep soundly on me for up to two hours. It's great time for me to catch up on my DVR and he needs the sleep.
