Animal's and their sixth sense!

I think my kitten knows something is up! She has come to me every night to lay on my belly (which hasn't been a regular thing for a very long time) while I watch TV every night! I love her purrs on my bloated belly! And she is a great cuddler!

Anyone else have pets that "know" they are preggers?

Re: Animal's and their sixth sense!

  • I have four cats and they all know, they are all cuddling more and rarely leave my side. So sweet :) x

  • My cat is clueless, but, sweet nonetheless! We were at my parents house, though, and their dog wouldn't leave me alone!!

  • Sometimes I think my dog knows and then other times I think she's being her normal affectionate self. Maybe once I start showing she'll know for sure.
  • One of my pooches has been sleeping right against my belly at night. She did this when I was ku'd with DS. Love my fur-baby.

My pups definitely know something is up. One of my boys, Riley, has actually really calmed down the past week. He also won't leave my side - which includes sleeping on my legs at night. Grrrrrreat.

  • We have 4 cats and I think they know. Even the ones that typically hang around DH more than me have been constantly up my butt lately.
  • My dog always knows when im sick or not feeling well. He gets super cuddly and follows me everywhere.

My dog is doing the same thing he did with DD. finding all my unused tampons and destroying them. It's like he's saying "here, got rid of those for you because you won't need them for awhile." Weird dog.

Haha this is so bizarre and amazing- I love it.

  • Both my dogs can tell. One has calmed. We know she's good with kids, and babies. She was around 2 before we got her. My other dog? Ummm...he eats my shoes, ignores commands and runs off. And, he only does this to me, not my husband. He also only does it when I'm pregnant. That was one of my clues. I've had people tell me it's not him, it's in my head , that he probably always acts like this. Well, my shoe collection begs to differ. He has only chewed shoes twice in his life, both times, I was pregnant.

It was pretty funny last time until about 6 months PP with my first period and I was looking for my tampons...oh wait, they were chewed up. Lol.

  • Last time around my dog barked all night off and on (very unusual for him) and we couldn't figure out what was up. Well my water broke at 7:00 am the next morning...3 weeks early. There was no way he could have had any sense from us that something was coming because we were caught totally off guard.

  • My dogs have been very snuggly. My Pomeranian was laying right next to my belly every time I laid down for a week before we found out we were pregnant and still snuggles with me all the time. He's normally crazy hyper so it is awesome to see him so calm and sweet!!
  • Ya my dog used to jump up on my lap when I was pregnant with my DD. she hasn't done it since. All of a sudden the last week or so she started jumping on my lap again.
I was just talking about this with some of my friends the other night!

  • I think our cats know. Our oldest lays on my belly and the baby sleeps right next to me, in my arms. Almost like saying... No mom I'm the baby not that furless thing!

  • My lab howls at me for each monthly AF visit...well it is now constant being pregnant. He also gets in bed and rests his head on my stomach every night. He usually only gets in bed once in a blue moon.
  • YES!!  I was telling WoaC this a week or so ago.  Two of my cats (who usually play king of the mountain on me while I sleep) jump over me now instead of walk all over me & the other one head butted my lower abdomen (which they only do when I'm pg)!  I think it's so bizarre!!

During my first pregnancy, my friends dog would lay on my stomach and growl at people if they came near me. Now this pregnancy, our dog will do the same :)
  • I was actually talking about this earlier today! My dog is sleeping with his head on my belly each night. He's never been a bedtime snuggler but he's been impossible to get away from for the last 4 weeks or so. Guess I know why now.

  • My dog knows. Last night she climbed up on the couch with me, laid on top of my legs with her little head on my belly, and napped. It was very sweet. She is not a cuddler, she only ever wants belly rubs.

  • So glad you all have posted these little stories; I thought maybe it was all in my head that my cat has seemed much more snuggly lately. She has been kneading my belly non-stop, which she NEVER used to do before! Super cute :)

  • I completely believe animals know.  They can sense sooo many things, especially spirit.  I believe there is already a soul blooming in there and of course an animal would sense that! Mrs. spiritual over here...
  • It was my dog's behavior that got me to take the pregnancy test in the first place, since we weren't trying.  The girl dog became very cuddly (head or paw on my belly) as she was when I was pregnant with my first; and the boy dog keeps trying to "herd" me to where he can protect me, or where DH is.  It's so cute.

  • Ha! My boy dog started acting out the same week I got a bfp. I mean chewing shoes up to pieces! He is my only boy and the baby in our family so we think he knows he is losing his spot! Now after we seen heartbeat last week they have all been very loving and affectionate to me
  • 3 of my 4 pets are always by me. My cat is usually a loner, but she's so much more prominent. Did this last time, too!

Last time my dog, Molly, was very sweet and always laid on my belly. I don't think any of them have a clue this time.
