Joovy Big Caboose: deal or no deal?

I was wanting some opinions on this big stroller.

I found one on Craigslist for $175, but it's about a 2 hr drive one-way to get it. Does anyone think this is a good enough deal for that trip? I have been searching CL for awhile for this type of stroller and this is the only one I've found. I certainly can't budget full price for one.

I am hoping to get the Joovy Caboose Too rear seat cover to convert the sit n stand seat to a full 5 pt harness, making this a triple tandem. When "Cinco" gets here, I will need something to get the twins and the newborn out on my own to dr appointments/church/etc, and the twins will not be ready to hold on to the stroller and walk. Plus, that's what the 5 yr old will be doing and she's a tornado on her own.

Added bonus, the stroller comes standard with 2 carrier adapters.

I have a Toyota Sienna minivan, so hopefully this will fit in the cargo area. I've tried the rough measurements and it seems like it will be a tight fit.

TIA

ETA: Baby wearing has never worked well for me, but that's a entirely different thread. :)

Re: Joovy Big Caboose: deal or no deal?

  • We have the Joovy Big Caboose, but my twins are still belly-babies and hopefully will remain that way for another 8-9 weeks! So we haven't actually put it to use.

With that being said, this stroller is monstrous and I have loaded/unloaded it to make sure it would work. I have an extended mini-van and can barely fit this in the cargo area! I have to wedge it diagonally. But it does fit, just barely. I'm not sure if you have a Babies R Us nearby, but you can go to the store to see if a car seat or stroller will fit in your vehicle. I'd suggest doing that before making the two hour drive. The price is right! It's a great product.

  • I loved mine, but it is very heavy to get in and out (plus it's hard to steer with all three kids in it). I  have the extended, long Escalade and it won't fit across the back. I have to put one of the rear seats down and slide it in that way. Even still, it's a tight fit. If I needed that seat, I wouldn't be able to use this stroller.

That being said, I love the way both babies have leg room and the second seat is high enough to see out. It's also nice that they can't fight like they do in the side by side stroller. My 5 year old still likes to ride in the back seat too.

  • I don't have any experience with that stroller, but I bought the Englacha X-rider attachment to use with the City Select.  Might be worth looking into if you already have a double stroller you love.
