I think LO is allergic to something

My poor little guy has been getting nasty bleeding diaper rashes on and off for awhile now. I always assumed it was due to cutting teeth but I don't think so anymore. I clean him very well and put cream on but he just has acidic looking poop and it seems to hurt when he goes. I'm going to start by eliminating gluten and dairy. I will also avoid any acidic foods. He loves bananas, does anyone think that I should cut those as well? Any advice would be appreciated.

I notice that DS has a hard time with tomatoes and mandarin oranges. Those mess his butt up pretty good.

Have you taken him to see the pedi about this?

Not yet, I'm going to give them a call tomorrow but I wanted to get a head start on the diet.

  • I didn't know an allergy could cause a diaper rash.  DD is allergic to peanuts and I found out because I had touched her after eating peanut butter and she got very itchy and red water eyes.  Any time she has a reacting her rash is all over her body and she's extremely uncomfortable.  DS recently had a horrible rash right before we went away.  We spent some time in the pool and it cleared up, SIL said the chlorine helps
  • My DS cannot handle any shelf stable juices since they are made with preservatives. Even the so called 100% juices have some form of preservative, and that was causing all kinds of the same sorts of acidy poop issues that you are having. So we had to switch to either juice that I put through the juicer myself, or the fresh juice from our grocer's produce section. We only offer juice once in awhile now since finding this out. I would much prefer him on milk and water anyway.
