I spent all afternoon/evening in the ER w bleeding ranging from heavy to none. I had bloodwork, pelvic exam and ultrasound that showed everything is okay with the babies but I'm still gushing blood. As they were discharging me from the ER more blood started to come out so they called an OB in who was surprised at the amount of blood she saw. She did a second pelvic exam and reviewed my u/s and basically said that they just didn't know what was happening. She said the blood is pooling and while it appears very red, it does seem a bit darker to her. So now I sit and wait. Call my OB in the am and likely wait some more.
Has anyone had anything like this happen before? I'm not sure how to feel. Sad because I'm bleeding and know it could be bad? Happy bc both babies are fine right now but "anything can happen!"? I'm just at a loss.
Re: Bleeding at 12w6d. Any others experienced anything like this?
I just went through this same scenario about a month ago with my current singleton pregnancy. I just knew it was the end for me, but the baby looked great. They had to sedate me because I was hyperventilating. They could not find the reason for it in the ER and sent me home on strict bedrest until the bleeding eased up. I had my regular follow up already scheduled for my NT scan and consult a few days later.
During the NT scan, the U/S tech at my OB's office found a "marginal" placenta previa, as well as a 6cm sub chorionic bleed around the sac. The baby looked great, healthy heart beat, growth measuring right on track and showing no signs of distress.
The OB's u/s said that a lot of times she is able to find things the ER folks can't, simply because she's more specialized in measuring for things like that, whereas the ER deals with a bigger range of systems. OB put me on restricted activity (pelvic rest, no heavy lifting, try to take it easy as much as possible.)
I've had to go back for weekly follow up u/s and consults since then. Last week I was referred to a peri and when they did the u/s, it finally showed an improvement in the position of the placenta, growing upward with the uterus stretching, and the subchorionic bleed (SBC) had decreased to 3cm.
I am now only heavy spotting all day, worse as the day progresses, but I am still trying to not over do it.
I hope you get answers soon!
It's so hard not to worry when this is going on. Hugs and best wishes to you!

I started gushing bright red blood at 11w and went to the ER. It was a SCH. I was sure I was miscarrying, that's how much blood there was. Luckily everything was OK with the babies. I bled for about 48 hours and then it stopped and never happened again. I hope everything turns out OK - unfortunatley SCHs are pretty common in a multiples PG. Hang in there, Sweetie!

I had a somewhat similar experience. I had my NT scan at 12 weeks and babies looked great. The next day I had my regular OB appointment where the babies sounded great. That night I went out to pick up dinner and felt that feeling down below where you think you mighthave started your period. Sure enough, I was bleeding. I freaked because blood for me in never a good sign. The on call nurse told me to rest since I wasn't having any clotting or cramping. By the morning I was just spotting. I called the office and they had me come in for a Rhogham shot (I'm O-). I begged them to listen for their heartbeats again since they were being so passive about it. Babies sounded great. Nurse said she thought I was just doing to much and burst a blood vessel in my vagina.
As of now, babies are measuring right on at 22 weeks and are doing great. Trying to dig their way out through my side as we speak.
Try to rest as much as you can and remember you saw that beautiful baby doing good.
T&Ps coming your way.

He did show me both babies. Both are well and are measuring perfect with strong heart rates. That was good for this mama to see.
Great news. Glad you got to see your twinkies.
