Day Care/Schedule Change

DD is starting daycare 3 days a week next week.  Typically she does a 6am feeding, and goes back to sleep until 9am.  Now after her 6am feeding we will be keeping her up, getting ready and going to daycare.  For those of you that do daycare, how did this change your LO's schedule?  Also, would you keep her on the same schedule on weekends?  I feel as if we should, but I feel so bad having to get her up at 6am everyday!

Any advice is appreciated.

Re: Day Care/Schedule Change

  • I started working when LO was 5mo. We are more go with the flow and had no set schedule. Get up when he got up. If he woke up super early, then back to bed to snuggle. Now that I am working I still don't have a consistent morning routine bc I'm just not a morning person. I try to get to at 5 but sometimes that diesnt happen. Sometimes LO wakes me up to feed, if so I feed him, put him back down to sleep, pump, get Ready and the last thing I do is get him up change him dress him and it the door to day care we go. Typically no matter what time I get up we don't leave the house any earlier than 7. Sometimes he sleeps until I have to wake him up. Anyway the gist is that the change of schedule game made a d ifference for the worse, i would say it got better bc he started sttn again as soon as I went back to work.

  • We have no set schedule but so far it's working for us. :)  DH works in a SBUX store, so his schedule/days off change all the time.  For example he worked closing Mon, opening today, opens tomorrow and closes again Thursday.  He often closes (which I think he's doing all of next week), so our "schedule" is roughly letting the girl get up whenever she wants, napping every 2-3 hours (approx) and putting her to bed when she's tired (sometimes during her last bottle, sometimes she's awake for another 1-2 hours).  For DH she often sleeps in, yesterday she didn't wake up until 10am!  Normally on his days she gets up between 8-9am.  She doesn't have scheduled naps, we just try to follow her cues + a loose routine.  Then there are days like today/tomorrow where I have to drop her at daycare by 7am to get to work on time.  Every day is a little different, but we are super fortunate to have a laid back baby who just goes with the flow (most of the time).
