- I have two girls - My eldest starts kindergarten this year and is 5. My youngest is almost 1, so no school yet

-I live in Alberta, Canada and the first day of school is Sept 3 this year

3. How long are your kids in school each day (ex: 8am-2pm)?
- They start at 9 and are out at 3

- Public Catholic school

5. Are you a member of the PTA/PTO (Parent Teacher Association/Organization)?
- Not currently as she is just starting school and I am not even sure how it works up here

2. Which state do you live in and when is your first day of school? I live in Illinois. School starts August 19th.

3. How long are your kids in school each day (ex: 8am-2pm)?8:45-3:35--I wish the day started earlier and ended earlier!

5. Are you a member of the PTA/PTO (Parent Teacher Association/Organization)? As it is the first year in this school, I am not. We will see what happens as the school year progresses and I get a better idea of how things are done.

Michigan...first day is Tuesday, Sept 3rd

1. DD who will be 13 in a month, going into 8th grade. DS who will be 9 in a few weeks, going into 3rd grade.

2. Maryland. First day = August 26

3. Middle school is 7:40 to 2:40; Elementary is 9:05 to 3:05.

4. My kids go to public. DS goes to a regular elementary; DD goes to a magnet program. I teach secondary English at a private school. (I go back on the 20th... WAH!)

5. I am a member of the PTA at both my kids' schools and my own school. However, that's the limit of my involvement. My son's PTA has a lot of nice activities, and the school is walking distance from our home, so we participate in some of the activities. But I'm too busy with my own teaching job to volunteer much.

At my school yes, I'm a preschool administrator but not yet for DSs new school.

I have 3 kiddos, DS#1 7 entering 2nd grade, DD 4.5 preK 4, and DS#2 3 PreK3.

We are in TX, first day of school is on the 20TH

3. How long are your kids in school each day (ex: 8am-2pm)?

DS#1 all day 8-3, DD and DS#2 MWF They go 8-3, and on TTH they go 8-11.

Catholic school

I do a lot of volunteering for the PTO, but not a member.

Michigan and state law says public schools start after Labor Day - many private schools follow the same as well

School Day is 8:25-3:30, my kids are there a little longer as they go where I teach

Private - they go to my school - I love taking them with me every day!

I'm late to this, but hoping to hang around more often!

1. How many kids do you have and what are their ages/grades? One daughter, age 5 -- starting Kindergarten this year.

2. Which state do you live in and when is your first day of school? Massachusetts -- our town starts Kindergarten on Sept. 9

3. How long are your kids in school each day (ex: 8am-2pm)?

Our town has half-day K, but DH and I work full time. She'll be going to a half-day K at a private center from 8:30-12, then K at her elementary school from 12-3:30, then back to the center for after school care until 6pm.

This year, both public and private. (See above)

5. Are you a member of the PTA/PTO (Parent Teacher Association/Organization)?

Looking into it -- I'd love to be, but I'm not sure how "working parent friendly" the PTA in our town is.

Hi! I'm just starting to make my way back to The Bump after a maternity leave hiatus. Now that I'm back into work and taking pump breaks, I'll be entertaining myself online a few times a day

Charlie just turned 5 and Emeline is 3 months, today

2. Which state do you live in and when is your first day of school?
Ohio, school started last Monday

3. How long are your kids in school each day (ex: 8am-2pm)?
9-3

Montessori - specifically, a Montessori Lab School at one of the local universities

5. Are you a member of the PTA/PTO (Parent Teacher Association/Organization)?

No, but we do have parent committees that I'll be getting involved in. We have our big parent meeting about them next month. It's a very parent-involved school, which I think is really neat.

DD just turned 9 and she's in the 4th grade

We're in MD and school started Aug 26.

She goes to before and after care so 7:45am-6:00pm

She went to a private Christian school for two years and now she's in public school

Not at this time

3. How long are your kids in school each day (ex: 8am-2pm)? Right now my school day is 10:15- 4:45, LO is in preschool/daycare from 8:30-5:30
4. Public school, private school, homeschool, charter school, something else? I teach at a charter school - we haven't decided yet if LO will go to my school or if he will go to our local public school. Both schools are very good schools, but it will depend on schedules.
5. Are you a member of the PTA/PTO (Parent Teacher Asscociation/Organization)? I am on a parent board at preschool and a teacher board at my school. I hope to be on a PTO when LO is in school, but it not sure how that will all work out yet.

I basically lurk here and post when I can offer teacher opinions and thoughts. Hope you dont' mind that I crashed your party!

2 kids. DD is 7 and in 2nd grade. DS is 4 and in daycare/preschool.

2. Which state do you live in and when is your first day of school?

Seattle, WA. They started September 4.

3. How long are your kids in school each day (ex: 8am-2pm)?

DD has school from 9:25-3:35. (DS is at daycare which is open 6am-6pm but he is generally there 9am-5pm)

Public school. I love our neighborhood elementary school.

Yes. I don't go to many of the meetings but I am a member.
