Credit Question

So my kid has an email address. I just went to check it for the first time in forever and she is loaded with spam. It seems there is a Lester with a different, but similar, last name and has been using it as his sign up for crap. I unsubscribed from all of it and reported it to gmail, but should I run a credit report for her. Is that too much? For kids under 13 it all has to be done in writing with proof of ownership (guardianship, whatever - owner is funnier). What say you S12?

Kid #1 - 09/03/12
Kid #2 - maybe???
Diagnosed with Severe Ashermans 
Hysteroscopy #10 - scar tissue grew back reblocking my right tube
#11 or IVF with scarring still inside?
1 lone embryo from September 2016 retreival, dx with Trisomy 16, starting fresh

    Credit is based off of Social Security numbers not names.  I think it would be unlikely that Lester has a similar name and social but if it would make you more comfortable I don't think it could hurt.

    Each person gets a free credit report yearly. I assume you can go online and get a free credit report for her too without having to jump through a bunch of hoops. I agree that it's unlikely, but I would be super paranoid and need to check.

    Not for children under 13. It has to be in writing with proof if identity. 

    Logically, I know everything is fine and dear old lester doesn't also have her ssn. Only a few people have that. Emotionally, I am worried she has 30 bajillion outstanding bills that some random dude opened.

    I think I will have to check just to ease my mind.

    Agree with PP - credit apps are not complete with just an e-mail address so there's really no way he could have done anything but if it will nag at you, why not?  Just make sure you use AnnualCreditReport.com NOT FreeCreditReport.com (the former is actually run by the three credit reporting agencies) I worked in banking and saw a lot of people make the mistake of using freecreditreport.com because of the commercials and end up with charges for stuff they didn't want.
