My week old baby was ok with being in bouncers, bassinets, etc until yesterday. We think she is having some gas issues, but she was screaming her lungs out all last night. Every time we finally got her to fall asleep and set her down, she would wake up and start screaming again. The only way I could soothe her and get her to sleep was to stick my finger in her mouth and let her sleep on my chest in bed with me, which I know is not safe, but we both needed to sleep. Today she hasn't been quite as fussy, but every time I try to set her in the bouncer when she's asleep she immediately wakes up screaming again. I can't hold her 24x7 (especially since I'm recovering from a c-section), but I don't know what to do. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Re: Newborn won't be put down
Sounds like your LO was missing being comforted by you. My newborn LOVES to sleep on me. I was very afraid to co-sleep but if i put him down he whimpers and jumps until next feeding. They need that constant love and your smell to feel safe and comfortable.
Ditto safe bedsharing. And that she's exhibiting typical newborn behavior. Babies cry, and babies want to be held. It will get easier, I promise.
