Going to the sitter next week

I am finally sending LO to a sitter! It's only once a week for 4 hours, but I'm freaking out. I have met this woman and she is wonderful. She has been caring for my nephew since he was an infant (he is almost 2) and she is really great. But I'm here getting myself worked up into a nervous mess about leaving him. All that I can picture is him choking on something or hurting himself when I am away. He has always been with myself or family and this is so hard. I need to get over it because I want to pick up more and more evening shifts at work. Can anyone suggest a way to stop panicking?? I am calling her today to set up a time to go over to talk about rates and visit before I actually leave him, maybe that will make me feel better?

  • Set up a meeting in person with LO. Let the two of them get acclimated and engage in activities (you a spectator only). I bet watching them interact will give you a feeling of security. Take a deep breath. Hopefully, the babysitter works out well and you can use her for a date night too.

  • I went over this morning and I feel so much better! Noah was mad at first but warmed up quickly and was having a lot of fun :). I'm still a little nervous, but she is wonderful and I know that he will be fine. It's such a relief knowing that she has cared for my nephew for a few years... It would be SO much harder if she was a total stranger!
