Beach Meal Plans

We're going to the beach for a long weekend. There will be 8 of us on one night & then 10 of us another. 2 nights but almost 4 days. Shoot me some food ideas.

We won't leave the area we're staying because they have everything (and this is the end of year trip so we've already done all the beach shopping, tourist things, etc). So we'll stop for breakfast on the way down & go grocery shopping once we get there.

Quick & easy lunches and 2 dinners. I plan meals every week so I'm stuck in a rut most of the time. I want something good, but not necessarily too elaborate. The one night for 10 of us will be a nicer meal.

Thanks!

  • I'm curious to see suggestions! I'm no help  :P

  • @andrea99 thanks! I'll have to add that to the suggestion board. Yes, we'll have full use of a kitchen (& I think a grill as well). If so, our "fancy" night will definitely be some seafood skewers, veggies, maybe some steak and other grilled seafood.
  • I just wanted to say your idea of using the grill a lot is a great idea!  When we we were at the beach for a week w/ 10 people, we had steak (expensive, could do chicken), asparagus, and corn all on the grill.  For the corn, just keep them in the husk and turn them every 5min for a total of 4 turns (90 degrees each turn).  Wait a bit then take the husks off outside (it's kinda messy).  It's easy and fast (start corn before asparagus and steak).  If not into asparagus, like you said skewers of onion, peppers, mushrooms, or saute broccoli instead.  You have protein (meat), starch (corn), and a veggie very quickly and easily!

Make sure to drink wine too.  Have fun!
If being a math nerd is wrong, I don't wanna be right!
  • @nattyncbride yes, I love asparagus. We wrapped it in bacon on the grill and so delicious. Not healthy, but delicious!

Plenty of wine will be drank, I promise! I always visit my favorite winery while there and bring back quite a bit. Nothing tastes as good as their wine!
  • We've always done cold cuts, pickles, healthy chips/wheat thins, and a couple of loaves of bread or bagels for lunches. People can eat what they want, when they want for lunch before or after a couple hours at the beach. Plus, you can pack a few in a cooler and they're simple to eat at the beach.

Dinners -  I agree with the others. Grill, a lot. Hot dogs/hamburgers for kids. Steaks, chicken breasts for grownups. Grilled veggies, a fruit salad and you've got dinner. If you want to do something a little fancier but still light enough for the beach, I have made steak or chicken taco salads and they were a big hit. Buy some bags of shredded lettuce. Mix up some black beans with cilantro, salsa, and lime juice for a "salsa". Grill/bake some tortillas and cut them into crispy "chips" to put on top. Grill some chicken breasts (flavored with chili, cumin, cayenne, whatever) or steak and cut them into strips and put on top. Add cheese and sour cream and boom, dinner.
  • @emilyd516 yum to the taco salad! Sounds delish.

I agree with the sandwich ideas which is what we'll probably do.

I might be one of the few who doesn't cook different for my kids. They love steak & chicken, DS begs for steak!
  • I often eat seafood when at the beach.
Shrimp on the grill, scallops wrapped in bacon, striped bass on the grill is one of my favorites!  Yum!
You could do fish tacos or even fish kabobs.
