Magic sleepsuit review

So DS is 14 weeks and is currently in that transitional swaddle phase where he's starting to hate being swaddled but still needs it due to his startle reflex. I really didn't want to buy another sleep gimmick but DS was starting to roll and pull the swaddle over his head so I knew his swaddled days were numbered. I tried swaddling from the chest down and one arm out and nothing was working! Without the full swaddle he was only doing 3-4 hours of sleep, with a full swaddle he would do 5-6 hours. So after some searching I was able go snag me a magic sleep suit (they're mostly all sold ouf but was able to find one at https://www.isisparenting.com/product/BABYM_MERLINMAGIC) so the first night was Friday and he slept 6.5 hours not to bad but it was so much easier to go back to sleep after eating. Saturday DS was with MIL while we celebrated DH birthday so he didn't wear it that night. Sunday he did 5.5 hours (he did take a giant poop and he hates to be dirty so I'm going to blame the poop for his waking up) and again it was so easy to change and feed him and he again went right to sleep. Monday he slept for a record 8 hours! I couldn't believe he actually STTN! After 5 hours I kept waking up every hour thinking he was about to get up and has wasn't. I even went to his nursery to check if he was still breathing because he was so sound asleep lol. DS is usually a loud sleeper who grunts and fusses in his sleep a lot but with the sleep suit he seems to be sleeping much better because he's so quiet now and is so easy to put him down it's been a big difference! Im still skeptical he'll keep STTN this easy, especially since 4month wakeful is around the corner but I'll take what I can right now.

Re: Magic sleepsuit review

  • Our experience was not so great, still only got 2 hours of sleep at a time, BUT we are in the middle of the 4 month sleep regression so I am going to try again when we come out the other side of that.

  • Hooray! That's about the same results we've had with ours. He slept 10 hrs last night!

Oh man I hope it helps after his regression! That's why I don't want to get too happy about the suit because he's about to be 4months soon and he's starting to teeth so things can change quickly. Good Luck!

Yes, I bought it and it really helped with his naps. Then he started teething and keeps trying to put his hands in his mouth so it was defeating the purpose of the suit. So I stopped the suit for a couple of weeks and am planning on reintroducing it.

  • Also the suit is bay far the silliest looking thing on a baby!! Lol DH is always making fun of it and can't believe I put his son in it. He's brought it out for friends and everyone laughs because it is funny looking to see them in this puffy suit thing lol. We call it his astronaut suit. After the 8 hours of quiet sleep I told DH "It's not so funny now is it?" Lol
