Trouble TTC

3rd IUI today!

FX that this is the one that works!  I asked our RE while he did the IUI, and he said that if this one doesn't work, then we'll go straight to IVF.  And apparently, DH's numbers dropped off again (they have fluctuated every time - today they were below normal count and below normal mobility), so he recommended ICSI as well.  I had a sit-down with the finance person at the RE's office, who walked me through all the costs for IVF.  All I can say is WOW.  Time to hit the banks and credit unions for a home equity loan or line of credit!  Otherwise there is no way we can pay for this (even with the OOP discounts, it's still going to be at least $13K for a fresh cycle, about $4K for each frozen cycle, and that can add up quick!).  Really really hoping our IUI works, but after hearing DH's numbers this time around, it sounds like it's a long shot without IVF.  Maybe it's time to buy some lottery tickets...

Re: 3rd IUI today!

  • I should add that these IVF costs don't include meds (which hopefully insurance will continue to cover, but it's a crapshoot since I've had to fight them every.single.month.so.far)
