I have been reading throughout many threads that people get sick to their stomach after their csection. Is this normal? Did you actually throw up? Is it because of the surgery?
I didn't get nauseas or throw up during or after my section. I would say that if you have had surgery before and didn't get sick you will probably be fine. But if you start to feel nauseas at any point they will give you some meds to help.
I got sick before, during, and after both of my C-sections. It is a reaction some people get to the anesthetic. I was so sick that I couldn't have an ice chip without throwing up. I even threw up the anti-vomiting medication, so I might just be super sensitive.
I felt nauseated during the c-section. I knew a head of time that percocets make me nauseated (what they usually give for pain after morphine) so I asked for vicodin instead.
I threw up multiple times before, during, and after my section. I was in labor 17 hours before the surgery and stopped getting sick about eight hours after.
I threw up water after they moved me to my bed and then again when they came in to change me. So it was only during movement but it settled down once I got out if bed 13 hours after surgery.
I felt really nauseous one time and thought for sure I was going to lose it. It is the only time in my life that I truly believe I exercised mind over matter. Because, frankly, there was no way in hell I was going to puke with a brand new incision.
I got sick after they gave me the spinal tap. I told the anesthesiologist that I felt sick and he put a bag next to my mouth and I threw up once and I was done. Lol
I was extremely nauseous and shivery from the epidural (I had to get a c-section at the last min due to the baby being breech and already went through horrible contractions for 12 hours). I was also nervous about the surgery and threw up while they were prepping me for the c-section.
I was very nauseous for about 36 hours afterwards. They were giving me anti-nausea meds for it, but they didn't help at all. I think I was reacting to the IV pain meds.
I had a couple moments where I thought I was going to throw up, but didn't, thank goodness!
My entire body was thrown off just because of all the morphine and magnesium sulfate I was on. All those drugs in my body made me not feel well.
During surgery they told me if I felt sick to say something... I think 3 times I yelled over to the nurse- "I feel sick!!!" and she would inject something into my IV to make it go away.

Ha! I wish...
I've had 2 general anesthesia surgeries and 2 c-sections. I got sick after my first general anesthesia surgery, but not after my second. I was perfectly fine after my first c-section, but threw up during and for an entire 6 hours after my 2nd c-section. The anesthesiologist guessed it was likely the morphine kicker they put in my spinal. In any event, some zofran calmed it all down.
I am a little disappointed that I reacted poorly to the morphine because the pain management after my second c-section was far superior to my first. I felt absolutely no pain afterward.
Some time after she was removed then off to Nicu I got extremely nauseous. I was exhausted after 26 hours, shook uncontrollably before, during and after cs, my fibroid tumors had grown and were being removed,I received a blood transfusion then stitched up but don't know at which point exactly I said I'm going to vomit, began dry heaving on the table and they layed something next to me but nothing ever came up. I get nauseous with anesthesia anyway but don't know which thing triggered it exactly. .
It's very common to get sick after CS, several things happen. Your spinal causes your BP to drop which makes you neaseated. Second you get all sorts of meds, which tend to make some people sick. After CS when they allowe you to take small sips, do it very slow cause if you drink a lot you will puke it all up. It's totally normal, but they can give you meds to help with this.
I threw up 4 times on the operating table as they were stitching me up! It was so gross. I couldn't keep ice chips down until 20 hours after. Anti nausea meds did nothing for me. In recovery they were trying to make me nurse as I was vomiting! I just started sobbing! But I finally felt better the next day and was able to nurse and take care of baby!
Re: Did you get sick after your section?
When you've been married this long, you need a ticker to remind you.
