Baltimore w/toddler

We are heading to Baltimore for a long weekend. We have an event to go to Saturday afternoon. We will be arriving Friday afternoon and leaving Monday. We are definitely going to the aquarium--my daughter LOVES fish. Any other ideas?

  • We will be heading up this weekend too if dd1 gets well and no one else gets sick. The zoo is nice, and we are taking the girls to Port Discovery Children's Museum. There's a science center in the inner harbor, but I think it's more for older kids. I love the aquarium there, and dd1 especially loves the dolphin show!

  • Thanks! We have a local aquarium here and Petco. Our rainy day trips are just a visit to Petco to watch all the fish. She is going to be so excited about the aquarium. I fully anticipate us having to be there for the full day, just because she won't want to leave.

  • Welcome to my neck of the woods! The aquarium really is great and they just renovated part to create an awesome shark reef! We haven't been there since they finished but it's really supposed to be great. How old are your LOs? I can't see any tickers. Port Discovery and the Science Center are good for older toddlers I believe. There is also the Visual Art Museum which right in the Inner Harbor too and that is fantastic. There's things for all ages there. Of course the zoo too if the weather's nice!

They don't do the dolphin show anymore!

  • if she likes planes, the observation area by BWI is awesome, especially at night! the planes fly by really close, there's a trail, a playground, and benches. it's something fun to do after other attractions are probably closed for the day.
  • We are in Baltimore, welcome in advance! We were at the aquarium back in March. While they didn't do the formal dolphin show, they did have a "demo" of sorts with the dolphins and we could still see them during that. Our DD loved them! I second the Port Discovery museum. We went with DD last year when she was two, and she enjoyed it. There's also a splash pad at the Inner Harbor area if it is warm enough as well as a big fountain area.

  • Lurker here...if it is a nice day you can go to Fort McHenry. It is beautiful with lots of space and fun things to do with the kids. Also, if you want to drive a little outside of Baltimore you could go to a Bowie Baysoxs game. It is a minor league team but they have an entire play area for kids including a bounce house and some little rides.

  • Thanks for the ideas. We will be arriving late afternoon on Friday and driving home Monday. I fully anticipate my daughter wanting to spend all day at the aquarium. When we go to petco she happily looks at the fish there for over 30 minutes until we drag her away
