For those that have/had a LO with a dairy allergy and conducted a challenge I have a couple of questions.
(LO is on BM and I am dairy free.)
1. When you started the challenge did you have a small/large amount of baked dairy like rolls with butter in them or a piece of cheese?
2. How did you decide if LO failed the challenge? Obviously, if there's a violent reaction it's a fail, but what if there might be a small reaction? Or you can't tell if the reaction (like vomiting (1time)) is really from the dairy, but from something else?
3. If LO failed the challenge, when did you try again?
Our gastro wants us to wait until LO is a year old, but we're going on a trip and I can't guarantee how dairy free I'll be able to be. We wanted to get an idea of how bad she'll react and I've noticed that others have done challenges at 6 months.
Re: Questions about dairy challenge
DS was EBF also. Our Pedi suggested that I eat foods with dairy baked in, if that was okay move to obvious dairy for me, if that was okay, then try it the same way on DS. Everything went well except he does not seem to be able to tolerate WCM.
We didn't have any reactions until we actually got to the WCM, so I have no advice on that part of your question.
After 4 years, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs our surprise miracle is here!
