Pregnancy mask

My pregnancy mask looks like I have a mustache or dirty upper lip. I'm fair skinned so it is that much more noticeable and makeup will not cover it. Three times in the past week people have said something about it - at target while shopping for shaving cream a woman said to me 'oh this one works best' while pointing out a facial hair cream, a co-worker I had lunch with said I had something on my face while gesturing to her upper lip to show me where, and my sister (who I normally take jabs from as much as I dole them out) told me I needed to shave my upper lip (not nice I know, but this is how we joke and she apologized as soon as she saw how I reacted to it). I am normally a very confident person, but this is really bugging me. I see it every time I look in the mirror and now that its being pointed out it's making me want to hide out til its gone. My doctor said it could take 6-9mo to go away and some women still end up needing toning creams or laser treatments to finish it off or speed it up... Is the darkening of skin related to the linea nigra? Mine is still there too (14.5wks pp). 6-9mo seems like a lifetime!

Anyone still have their masks or lines? What are you using to conceal?

If yours went away, how long did it take? Did you use anything to help it along? For STMs, what about previous pregnancies?

Re: Pregnancy mask

  • I'm so sorry, hopefully it will fade soon. My family has the same sense of twisted humour but as for the person in the mall, that's just rude and far too personal.

My linea nigra is still there too. I'm fair skinned as well so it looks like a mucky zip up to my belly button.

I'm a FTM so I have no clue how long it takes for them to go but I would try laser treatment or I would ask a dermatologist if there are any kind of lightening creams that I could use in the mean time.

  • I had a mask but it has faded away for the most part. I have a few blotches that look like uneven skin tone.I still have my linea nigra loud and clear though. My line never fully went away after my first LO so I can't tell you how long it took to fade away. I'm sorry people are commenting on your mask. That's so rude.

  • I have the "mask", and I think the summer sun (even though I try to stay out of it) has made it worse.

My line is still there too.
