2 week appointments already?!

So on Friday I went for my monthly appointment and my midwife said that she'll see me in two weeks...she must have noticed the expression on my face (I've been a patient of hers for years) because she said, "Yes, we're already at that point." Um really? Maybe I should get my act together and get something done for this baby.  I was so much more organized for my first.  Anyone else in my boat? I'm feeling some STM guilt.

Re: 2 week appointments already?!

  • I agree, everything is going crazy fast. I can't believe I'm a little under 3 weeks away from the 3rd tri and there's still so much to do... need to figure out daycare, a pediatrician, and we still don't have most of the baby gear we need...

It's almost like a straight hit to the face :| last monthly is in a week - just a day shy of 28 weeks - and then every two weeks.
I still haven't looked into the pediatrician thing..so that's my big thing to do.
So far what I DO have is the car seat, crib, mattress, blankets, pacifiers and newborn clothes.
I'm waiting until after the baby shower that is thrown for me..whenever that is /:) and if not heck all I really need is the bath tub, mattress cover, couple sleeping gowns, diapers, wipes and bottles+formula and what not if Breastfeeding shouldn't work out.

  • I go in and out of panic mode too.   I've been more lazy getting ready for this one but I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that we already have pretty much everything we need so there's not much to do.  The nursery has been done for almost a year.  I work from home so don't need child care and we're using the same pediatrician we used for our son so it was just a matter of calling and making sure she was accepting new patients (which she was).  We have a few little things left to pick up but it's mainly done.  I just feel like I'm forgetting something major.

  • My 3rd tri started yesterday and tomorrow is my last monthly appointment! It's absolutely insane!!

  • I feel terrible for baby 3. I will be 28 weeks tomorrow and so far I have a pack of diapers and a box of bottles. I have most other gear packed away but haven't gone through it because I still didn't decide where to put it once I get it out. My first was the first baby and second was first girl so I feel like I did so much for them. Maybe I should go look for a coming home outfit at least.
  • We haven't really bought anything for baby 2 yet.  I have a list of things to buy and I know I need to, I just can't bring myself to do it.  I need to do it soon since shipping takes FOREVER here!

I just talked to my friend yesterday, my shower should be some time early Oct.  I'm definitely waiting until after my shower to buy most things.

I can't bring myself to freak out just yet.  IDK - 3 months seems like SUCH a long time to me! (but in my mind, this pregnancy has gone by SOOOO SLOWLYYYY)  DH and I did a lot of house work, and I see how much we can get done in 2 weeks, so 3 months just seems like forever.  Maybe time will seem to go faster when I start going every 2 weeks to my OB, but I've got 3 weeks until my last monthly check.
  • Well I'm glad I'm not alone.  Maybe today I'll make a list...maybe that's a good place to start LOL.  I am also feeling a little added pressure because I'm a teacher so I'm going back to work in a week and a half and I know I'm going to feel like I got hit by a bus.
  • I'm officially on bi-weekly as well. It kinda makes it seem real! I hit the panic button and bi-weeklys have sent me into a full fledge nesting mode!

  • I'm in the bi-weekly appointments too.  I don't have much done and still have 11 weeks, which sounds like a long time, but then I realized baby will be full term in 8 weeks.  <cue panic mode> Then I really freaked out when I realized that it means DH and I only have between 8-13 weeks of it being "just us."  CRAZY!!!!!!

  • We have the big stuff done, but have totally sacked on the small necessities like shampoo, lotion, nail climbers, brush, thermometer, infant toys, receiving blankets, etc.... I know we need all these things, but in thegrand scheme of things I over looked them... N seems to be taking it all in stride, thinking people willed us everything at the baby shower. I and nesting and anxious andfeel like I can't rely on the shower, which makes it worse.... Thank goodness my baby shower is in three weeks, we'll get our butts in gear after that when N sees everything we still need.

  • We have furniture, and a few bigger things (car seat, tub), and a number of smaller things from the first shower. But they're totally disorganized. I'm going to wait until after my other shower and then do an inventory to see what we still need.

But yes, I start two week appointments after my next one! Eek.

  • I can't say I'm stressing out yet. The first couple weeks you hardly need anything. I have the pack n play set up in our room, clothes all washed, we have a pack of diapers, and plenty of wipes. I pulled out a few bottles but I plan to BF so I won't need those for a while. I'll probably start to stress once I start packing my hospital bag and prepping meals to freeze.

  • I was at the doctor today - I hit my 3rd trimester, found out I am now highly anemic, scheduled my 1-hour glucose test for Friday and got told that I start going every two weeks. What a great way to stress out my morning. I also start going to the MFM bi-weekly too so basically I will go every week since they are on alternating weeks.

I have purchased absolutely nothing for LO, haven't though about childcare and probably need a paper  bag to breathe into about now. :)

  • I'm kind of freaking out too on how far we all are. With DD1 I felt like all was set by now. Now with DD2 I don't even have her room cleared out, no dresser ordered yet, still have to paint, AWWW! @-)

  • Didn't realize it in advance, but had my last monthly appointment this morning. They start every two weeks at 28, but since I am 27 today we scheduled next one for three weeks so I am back on schedule.
I also got hit with the pediatrician question by the Midwife this morning, who then very kindly made some suggestions, so we pretty much got that settled.
I am ready mentally, I think and depending on the day, but we still have stuff we need.

  • My last monthly check is next Monday along with my GD test then I start my bi-weekly appts. I have absolutely NOTHING for DD. DS is 5yrs old and I lost most of the stuff I had for him when I separated from his dad...it was all left in the nursery closet and exDH got rid of it ALL before adking me if I wanted it. Plus, I had mostly boy stuff and having a girl this time around. I feel so unprepared but I'm waiting till it cools down a bit here in Phx, AZ Its just hard to motivate myself to do much of anything when it's 110 degrees outside!!

This is me too exactly. Had my last monthly this morning at a day shy of 27 weeks, so they scheduled me for three weeks out also to put me back on track. I did my 1 hour glucose test too. Yuck. I still feel a little sick from it. Anyway, no stressing here about time! I stay at home and DS1 starts school soon, so I will have plenty of time to get things bought and in order. We did pull the crib and play mat out of storage, yet have nowhere to put it since my mom is still inhabiting my soon to be nursery. I'm so ready to paint! Er, um, have my handyman paint.

  • I am officially on the every 2 week schedule too. I feel kinda prepared. We finished our closet renovation, so the nursery is finally cleaned out! I also painted it and SO assembled the crib. I have a goal to finish her room this weekend. Next weekend is out shower and I suspect we will be receiving a lot of clothes and such! It's going to be an organizational mess.

We also need to find a pediatrician...and I have no idea where to start or how to go about it.

  • I am 28 weeks and my Ob doesn't want me bi weekly until 32 weeks. Even then I think I will stretch it over 2 weeks a little bit.
