cooler weather

We are getting cooler weather here and I am loving it. I enjoyed summer but I am so looking forward to fall! I can't wait for halloween, apple cider, carving pumpkins, and all that good stuff. Anyone else feeling this way?

It shouldn't be this cool in August. It makes me sad. I am not a fan of fall and winter.

I'm w/ ya there. I live in MI so we get plenty of cool weather....I want summer back!!

  • I am jealous of those who have colder weather! It's supposed to be 100 here for the next few days. We have hot weather all the way till the end of Oct. I grew up in IN and I really do miss Fall. We get a small taste of it in Nov but it's not the same.

  • I hate the cold weather, I hate wearing sweaters and coats!  I much prefer jeans and a t-shirt.  Although there is a lot of cute little kid clothes out there so I'm looking forward to dressing Morgan for the winter this year :)

  • Yes! Fall is my absolute favorite season. I missed out on most of the "fall" goodies last year (ie: anything pumpkin, cider, etc) because of the stupid GD so I have a lot of making up to do this year. Plus, we (DH and I) work at a haunted farm so that's a fun way to spend Oct, and we're going to Disney in Nov. I hate hot weather with a passion, and although it's been fairly mild this summer, I am ready to not see a high about 60 degrees. Bring on the fall and the colorful leaves, and the delicious food! I'm ready!!

  • I'm ready for it, we have had the air off all week, it's actually been a little chilly in the am here in nj. We have had to put a sweater on in the am, but by noon it's back up to high 70's or 80. Can't wait for fall, pumpkin picking, apple cider, changing of the leaves, my fave season too!!

  • Me too! Summer is all but over here, and the crispness in the cool nights is making me excited. Fall is my favourite time of year-mmm pumpkin pie and cider!! And I hope the salted caramel trend continues, the salted caramel lattes out last fall were the perfect complement to the season!

  • The only thing I'm looking forward to is using my fall scents from Scentsy!!!

  • I've been LOVING the cooler weather up north (after moving from the south).  I'm wearing fleece pants right now!  But now it's going to be high 80s all week.  Meh.
  • I HATE winter weather, but enjoy Autumn - I love the warm days and slightly cooler nights. When I think Autumn I think hayrides, corn mazes, apple picking & making caramel apples & apple pies, pumpkin patches & pumpkin carving, bonfires with s'mores, jumping in leaf piles and leaf art, Halloween, & Thanksgiving. Oh so fun :).

  • Oh and our Thankful tree - it starts in September and goes through November. Each day each family member writes on a laminated leaf something they're thankful for, and we put it on the paper tree on the wall. It's something we really love and look forward to; it's so neat to see the bare tree fill up with things we are thankful for.

  • I love Fall and I'm a teacher who has to go back to work.  Pants, sweatshirts, Halloween, there is nothing I dislike about Fall.  I'm loving this cooler weather in PA but I'm sure it's not here to stay

@twister22, do you have pics of previous years trees? This sounds so cute and fun. I would love to do something like with DD1.

  • I'm super excited for fall, mainly for DS2's first trip to the pumpkin patch and Halloween. For me, I'm looking forward to pumpkin spice lattes, cozy sweaters, apple cider, and shopping for cool weather baby clothes, lol.

  • I absolutely love Fall, my favorite season because around here, its totally the best! Perfect temps 70s/80s, cool nights (love my cuddly sweaters!), leaves change color, kids go back to school. Summer is too hot, winter I suck at driving in the snow/ice, spring nice but can be cold & wet then suddenly sweltering.

How could I leave out the most important part of fall, back to school! I'm thinking about inviting a few of my mom neighbors over for "grown up" coffee to celebrate, lol.

  • @peacelove&mama

Even though we only have my stepson (11) on the weekends, I love it when he goes back to school because then I know he's active and doing positive activities instead of hanging out with his pot-smoking-gangster-wannabe-white-trash uncle.... *sigh* his mom and I have become good friends over the years and we are definitely on the same page for parenting BUT, she is this semi-normal, crazy-random exception in her family. I swear they are all inbred several generations over and don't have the sense God gave a rock between all of them.

I read that too quickly at first and thought you said his friends were smoking pot. I had a moment of holy crap, kids aren't really doing that so early are they? Time to lock SD in her room for the next 10 years!

I can see why you'd be happy about SS going back to school for that reason. Hopefully he figures out that his uncle is no good. I'm mainly just happy that I won't have to hear tattling and bickering all.day.long.

@sweettalkin417 I just looked through all my photos from last fall - apparently I didn't take a picture :(. I used this tree https://www.amazon.com/Big-Tree-Animals-Bulletin-Board/dp/1600224253/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1376955220&sr=8-1&keywords=tree+with+animals+for+classroom - I didn't use the middle part of the trunk to make it shorter, and laminated it all. I cut lots of leaves and a few apples out of scrapbook paper with die cuts at the local scrapbook store, and laminated those too. We used a dry erase marker to write what we were thankful for, and used rolled scotch tape to add it to the tree. At the end of fall I did have to use Windex to get the words off the leaves since it was on there for so long - that was kind of a pain in the butt.
