Breathing treatments

DD has had a cold for the last week that has continued to get worse.  I finally decided to take her to the Dr this morning, just to ease my mind.  My poor baby has horrible drainage & is having a hard time breathing.  The Dr put her on breathing treatments hoping it will help.  Has anyone else has to use a nebulizer for their LO?

  • Yes.  My son had to use one at about 4 months.

  • Ugh. Poor baby :( We are dealing with bronchiolitis - similar to bronchitis, but a different part of the lung. We didn't need to use a nebulizer, and thankfully he's on the mend, despite continued congestion / cough. I hope your LO feels better soon! :(

Did you use the mask or just the mouthpiece?  The Pharmacist said DD would probably just fight the mask, so to go without it.  I've done 2 breathing treatments with her today, but without the mask, I wonder if it's doing any good?

  • My son needed breathing treatments as a baby a few times. What our doctor said was to use the normal breathing piece and just blow it at his face. It did seem to help him, because he had been wheezing, and I wouldn't hear it after the treatments. Hope LO is feeling better soon!
