Diapers

What is everyone's favorite brand of diapers. I've always loved pampers, but ds has been getting deep chemical burns from them. So, I've been trying huggies and he ends up soaking his clothes in pee all day. Any suggestions?

Re: Diapers

  • Yikes. Yeah, I've never had any luck with Huggies, either. I also tried the generic Aldi brand and they worked but I didn't like how they felt. I like Pampers, but if your DS is getting chemical burns from them, then it's obviously time to switch. Although... which kind do you use? My SIL used Baby Dry Pampers and then tried Simply Dry because they're cheaper. Her DD got a horrible diaper rash, so she switched back to Baby Dry and things are fine again. I've always used Baby Dry.

If that's not the problem, you could always do cloth for a bit to give his bum a break, if that could work for you. Good luck!

  • We cloth diaper because DS was peeing through everything. When we do use disposables we use target brand and they seem to work well.

  • We use cloth diapers (Bum Genius one size) because they're so much cheaper and LO has sensitive skin and this is the best way I've found to keep the rashes at bay. I also use cloth wipes and make my own solution for this reason. The solution I make is just witch hazel, apricot oil, and water. It cleans well, moisturizes, and doesn't have any harsh chemicals.

If you're hesitant to cloth diaper because you think it's harder, I just want to let you know that the Bum Genius one size diapers are amazing because they require no more effort than disposables do. They have these cute little snaps and you don't have to fold anything. All it is is one extra load of laundry.

Here's the kind I use (and adore): https://www.bumgenius.com/organic.php
  • I've used the pampers swaddlers and baby dry. They were actual burns, not diaper rash. One as big as a 50 cent coin. My pediatrician has had a few patients who've had the same reaction from pampers. If we had the money upfront to be able to do cloth diapers, that would be my number one choice. But we aren't able to do that right now. Maybe I'll try the target brand and hope those work for him.

  • Same burn type thing happened to my LO for a few days, but I believe it was the antibiotic she was taking that was causing her diarrhea (and thus the burns). We use pampers swaddlers. The sensitive pampers swaddlers gave LO diaper rash so we use the regular ones.

Check craigslist for cloth diapers. You can also build your stash slowly, one diaper at a time.
  • We use Luvs, and have never had an issue. For whatever reason, DS has blowouts in Huggies, although we do use the H overnights because they work great and DS never poops in the night (knock wood...).

  • We've recently tried Seventh Generation diapers...they are free and clear diapers. They worked great for overnight, as we'd had some issues with sleeping through the night in huggies. FYI they are chlorine free, so the fabric is tan colored ; they look tea stained! But LO 's bum liked them and they stayed on during crawling expeditions
  • Pampers are my favorite, but they're too expensive to buy all the time. We didn't like Huggies at all; they leaked a lot for us. I actually like the Walmart brand Parents Choice. They are the cheapest and work very well. We like Luvs too.

  • We primarily CD, but we keep the Target brand on hand for emergencies. It's worked well for us, but she doesn't wear more than one or two disposables in a row, and only very rarely, so I don't can't speak to whether they'd cause a rash after long term use.

  • We were using pampers at first and loved them until he was about 3months old and having blow outs all the time. We switched to huggies snug fit and LOVE them. No blows outs. It's all in the shape of your LO- they all fit differently.
