Nicknames

What do you call your kid(s)? Both of my kids have names that can't be shortened into traditional nicknames, but they still get silly nicknames. When DS was younger, he was always Monkey and now he often gets Bubba or Bubs or Buddy. DD is Bear, Claire Bear, Clairbsie (sp? haha). And for a long time, for reasons I still don't understand, DS called her Sasha. So if your kids have nicknames, were they planned, and who devised them?

Sage's dad always calls here Munchkinland. Or that silly Monchichi thing yall were talking about a while ago. I still don't know what you guys are talking about.

And I call her Saygee.

My cousins call her Sage-a-bell or Sagers. My BFF still calls her Bean.

We call her Bear more than we call her Marian.

She is also Maid Marian, Mar-Bear, Little Bear, Bobbalow (don't ask, because I have no idea), or Monkey. She was also Tinkabum for a long while, thanks to DH's little sister, but that has kinda phased out.

Charlotte is Charlie or Bug and Buggie. When she was first born I would call her my snuggie buggie because she liked to cuddle which just became Charlie Bug, Bug, or Buggie. DH pretty much calls her bug like I do. My mom has started calling her monkey because she's obsessed with her stuffed monkey DH gave her.

We call my daughter The Beebop and my son The Buddy. Ethan also gets Buddyman or Senor RoughStuff.

None of them were really planned, they all just kind of started and we've continued them. I'm sure it was me, I'm always coming up with nicknames or songs or some weird crap.

Mason was named Mason J. so we could call him MJ, after Michael Jordan. He's never once been called MJ because it never fit. We call him Mase Man & Macy Pants; DD calls him Buddy.

Kenleigh is Kenleigh Mae and when she was born we called her KMae, but that phased in to KGirl.

DS started out as Puddin' because we were team green and always said the Proof was in the Pudding. Now he's Buggy because he's my love bug.

DH calls DD "Puddina" as in Female Puddin' but I call her Deepy Girl because once when I was trying to distract her I started making weird noises like "deepy beepy deepy girl!!!!" Weird, I know.

FWIW, we aren't a fan of nicknames off of their full names so we call them their real full names when it's not one of the above.

Hailey - pumpkin girl (born in October), sweet girl, honey bear

Jackson - buddy, Jackson boy

Lorelai - Lore, stinky baby (LOL, I don't know why but it's stuck cause she laughs hilariously every time we call her this)

DS1 is Levi. For the longest time we called him bubs and we still use that NN every now and then.

DS2 is Nolan and somehow, the NN Nono evolved. It's cute and all until now we need to start telling him No for things and he just thinks we are saying his name. I knew from the beginning it was a bad idea, but it just kept coming out and it stuck!

Eric Ryan is what we usually call him, so Eric seems like a nickname.

Nope. No actual nicknames besides "sweetheart/princess/handsome/little man/etc"

DH goes by a nickname and his signature is his nickname. Anytime we do anything legal it's a fucking pain in the ass because we have to get notarized one and the same forms. So because of that, I was very adamant of not saddling our kids with that. We named them what we were going to call them. Truth be told I don't really understand the "we're going to name him X but we'll call him Y". If that's the case, just name him Y.

I've always called the girl a hobo or stinky hobo. She was actually jealous when I called the boy by "her nickname" one day. She's also Bo, Zozee, girl, or bubs.
The boy has been a few already mentioned in pp's but nothing has stuck thus far.
He'll likely just be boy lastname as I've been favoring that one lately.

Edited to add: the boy's name doesn't have any inherent nicknames.

He's most often "Buddy Bear," something that I called him from a newborn. DH started calling him Buddy (insert animal on clothing). Buddy Monkey has stuck. He's also Max, Maxers, Max man, Max N Cheese...and when we're having a rough day, he's the tiny terrorist, Sir Grumpalot, Whiny Hiney...

I love this thread and hearing all the random NN people come up with. It is so cute. C's NNs are Bug-a-boo, Bug, Pumpkin Face, the Chlo Bomb, and the Bomber. Older kids at daycare call her Baby Chloe.
