Crib rail protectors

My DS is starting to bite his crib and I was looking at those crib rail protectors. Are they a safe? They seem like they could pose similar risks as bumpers.

    They don't pose the same risk because they're up high, on the rail itself, and not blocking the spaces between the slats.

    I bought this gummy one that sticks o the top rail. I think it's by Kid Kushion or something like that.

    My personal experience makes me tell you that I wouldn't use one of those.  The minor issue I had with it is that when it came off it took the finish off the crib.  But worse, LO was able to pull it off and pull it into his crib.  I much prefer the soft ones that I can tie onto the top rails with a double knot I know he can't undo.
