PW Again: Speech Regression

Sorry i am a post whore today. I am finally at a computer :)
We've noticed that Cooper doesn't say all the things she used to. She used to say ByeBye a lot and always at the appropriate time but she hasnt said it in months. Also, she will no longer say Momma. She used to and now that she WONT, AT ALL, I'm sad! She has said a few new words but we can't get her to say byebye or momma like she used to. Is this normal?? Sorry I am being a worry wart today. I have been saving all these questions up for today lol

Re: PW Again: Speech Regression

  • I think it's normal as physical milestones develop to focus less on linguistics. My kid has also begun to use fewer words now that she's really getting the hang of walking. Actually, walking is all she wants to do now, she forgot how to sleep even....

  • DS said mama on Christmas Eve and I was so excited...and then never again until a few months ago. He was too busy with physical milestones like PP said, after he was established walking I noticed he started working on verbal skills once again. Now he says mama all the time, along with lots of new words and phrases.

  • Thank yall for making me feel better! I'm sure she will pick it back. She knows what we are saying she just wont say it. Like if I say ok I gotta go ByeBye, she will run after me with her arms up. Or if Hunter tell her to get a ball and give it to momma she will go get a ball and give it to me. She just wont say it.

  • Same here. He doesn't say many real words and nothing is consistent. Ots like he picks 1 or 2 words says them a few times then stops and might say another in a week or so. It's kinda frustrating sometimes but I figure he's figuring things out in his own time.
