Vaccines - Another reason for delaying

Didn't want this to get lost in the other vaccine thread.  My friend is  NP and is not against vaccines in any way - she did say in her research and schooling recently there were cocerns about the efficacy of vaccinations when multiple were done in one muscle at one time, because the muscle can only take so much or absorb or whatever (i know, super technical and helpful. ).  I didn't have a chance to look more into this and had planned to split up my vaccines anyway for DD out of allergy concern- she was supposed to get 4 at her 1 year visit, I had them do MMR and Hep A (one in each leg), then scheduled an appt for 4 weeks later for Chicken Pox and Flu.  I was reading the paperwork and they say "12-15months" is recommended.  Most peds probably just do all at the same time at 12 months to avoid extra co-pays/visits for families.

    My Dr doesn't do more than 2 at a time.  1 in each leg.  Both of my boys were/are on a delayed vax schedule that he determines at the appts.  Christian got his final shot right before Kinder and was all good.  I like that  better than 4 or 5 at a time.

    I agree with Salty and Scout.  I also think that most of us have 1 yr. olds or almost and have made the decision about when/if we will give vacinnes.  Statements like this just cause drama and do little to change anyone's opinion.

    Causing drama was not my intention - just expressing another thought that I had heard (and admitted that I didn't research)  I didnt make my decision based on this anyway, I did it because of allergy issues - just wanted to throw something else out there.  I'm 100% for vaccines (mostly) on schedule!

    I get it, but therein lies the problem of the anti/wary of vac movement. People make important decisions based on hearsay. By sharing information you didn't even verify as being true or accurate with a simple google search (the CDC was the first link that came up, and I know it to be a credible source), you are perpetuating the problem.

    If you are delaying g due to allergy, you should practically be begging everyone else to vac on schedule. If your kiddo is in daycare or goes to playgroup with similarly aged kids, you receive herd immunity benefits if the rest of them are vaccinated on schedule. Even a month or two means nothing if your kid is exposed without having been immunized.
    Point taken! I can understand how it would perpetuate things if people just read the sentence and didn't do their own research and said "well I read on the interwebz" just like I'm saying "well I heard from a friend..."  My kiddo is also just watched by my MIL so I wasn't as concerned w/ the 1 month delay.  Especially since I chose to delay the chicken pox and flu (cue "we all had chicken pox and it didn't kill us!") and it not quite being flu season.
