Weekend with Best Friend...where to go?

My best friend lives a about 8 hours from me. (driving distance) We are planning a weekend together in a month. We are trying to think of ideas on where to go. Any suggestions? We mostly just want to catch up, eat and do a little shopping.

Come to Napa!!! It's crush/harvest season next month so all the wineries will be active and producing, the tours are amazing, and we still have warm weather. It's just gorgeous!
