Help! Tipping question.

We are having our garage door fixed this morning. Do I need to tip the guy who is coming to fix it? I feel like this falls under the category of the cable guy, or the mechanics changing my oil...which would be no.     I do know 8 times out of 10 our mechanics get tipped on oil changes.

    I would be asking the same question! Sometimes I give a $10 tip to buy them lunch.

    Very common. People tip for New York State inspections and tire repairs. It's still very common practice to tip on small stuff. I would say less tip on big jobs.

    No, I wouldn't tip the garage door repairman.  I also wouldn't tip for an oil change. 

    I would, however, offer the restroom or a cold drink if the guy seemed nice.
