Breech at 35 Weeks!

Help! I need tips and success stories. I want to avoid a C-Section.

I'm currently bouncing on the yoga ball, swimming a lot, balancing on all fours and rocking back and forth. Next, I will try frozen peas. Anything else? :) Thanks!

Re: Breech at 35 Weeks!

  • Accupuncture has a very high success rate in getting babies to turn.

  • My OB assured me that many babies turn by themselves even up until the 38th week. If my baby hasn't turned by then I am going in to the hospital to have a version. They give you terbutaline to relax your uterus and then two doctors push the baby to make it spin. They monitor you for a few hours and then send you home. I have been assured that even though there is a small change of a crash c-section as a result of the procedure the risks of a version are actually less than the risks of just undergoing a scheduled c-section for a breech baby.

  • As for alternatives it sounds like you've tried everything except a chiropractor for the Webster Method. That might be worth a shot!

  • My LO turned at 36w and some turn last minute, so try not to panic yet. I've also heard of playing nice music down at your pelvis to encourage the baby to move in that direction. Oh, and I assume you've checked out spinningbabies, yes?

  • Go to the website spinning babies. They have great tips on things that "MAY" help. It's no guarantee.

But from a mom of one vaginal and 2 c-sections births, it's not that bad if its planned. I'm staring down the barrel of a third, but I'm not too worried about it.

Good luck! And happy birthing, how ever it may turn out.

  • Don't laugh but have you tried a flashlight? I was told in childbirth class that babies can see the light and will follow it. Think how if you put it up to your hand you can see thru. you can put it low on your stomache or start t the side and slowly move it lower. Can't hurt to try, but I won't swear it works either, just something I've heard
  • I found out lo is breech at my 36 wk appt. I am now almost 39 weeks. I tried everything from spinning babies including moxibustion and 5 trips to a chiropractor who used the Webster method. I too am trying to avoid a c-section because we want several kids. If lo doesn't turn before Wednesday the dr. Is going to try to turn him (ECV). If it is successful he will induce before the baby can flip back and if unsuccessful I'll be off to the OR. Either way it certainly isn't what I wanted but my best advice is to keep relaxed and doing all of the spinning babies exercises. Hopefully lo will turn for you!
  • I have no advice but just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. I was told at my 35 week appt (36 weeks tomorrow) that my baby is breech as well. :( I have delivered two babies before vaginal with no problems and haven't dealt with this before. It sucks and is scary :( So, I understand and I hope he/she turns for you!

  • I'm in the same situation as you at 35 weeks...although, I've heard they still have plenty of time to turn so I am not freaking out yet! GL
  • My LO was breech up until 38 weeks then he turned on his own!

  • Many, many, many babies turn at the last minute. My son turned at 39 weeks and I was able to deliver vaginally. I know there are things that will do the trick, but sometimes there is a good reason for the lack of turning like a short umbilical cord. Try to relax and do what you can, but also be rest assured that we live in a day in age where we are medically advanced and csection is a great option to have just in case. Whether you deliver vaginally or by c-section, you will still have a sweet LO to kiss and enjoy.
