Newborn Size Diapers

I am trying to guess how long DS will be in newborn diapers.

He was born 6 lbs 4 oz. He lost some weight, but was back up to his birth weight by about a week and a half. He is now two and a half weeks old. He is breastfed and I have every reason to believe he is growing normally.

Any other moms have a baby similar size? About how long did they stay in newborn size?

I am trying to decide how many diapers to order for him :-)

It all just depends. My DD was 7 lb 13 oz when she was born. It seems like we were in newborns forever! My DS was only 5 oz heavier and is already in size 2s at two months.

DS weighed 6 lbs. 12 oz. He lost weight and is currently at 6 lbs. 6 oz. He is 2 weeks old and stil in newborn diapers.

DD was 7 lbs 8 oz at birth. She grew out if the papers newborns at 3 weeks... Huggies are a bit bigger so she still fits into those

DS was born at 6 lbs 13oz and was in them for just under 4 weeks, probably about 9- 9 1/2 lbs I had another unopened box but returned them since the 1s fit better at that point.

My mom always told me that babies are supposed to gain 2lbs per month for the first 3 months. My older ones and most of my nieces and nephews have all been around the same (around 2lbs per month). That said she's not a dr. and all babies are different.

Very similar to this = DS was 7 lb even at birth, dropped to 6lb6oz. Last appt two weeks ago he was at 7lb4oz.. He was a month yesterday, and is def still in NBs..

LO is 13 weeks and still in them!

She was born at 35 weeks and now weighs just over 10 pounds. She has a tiny little butt and waist though!

One of my sons was born near 6 lbs and was breastfed but was only in newborn diapers a couple weeks at most. We used one pack. He gained quickly. I guess it will depend on your baby's shape and how he gains.

My Lo was born at 7 lbs 8 oz, and is currently 9lbs 5 oz at 4 weeks old and still in newborn.

DD1 was 6lbs 11oz. She was in newborn diapers for about 6ish weeks.

DD2 was 6lbs. She was in newborn diapers for almost 12 weeks, but she is an itty bitty and has a growth delay, so not a normal pattern of growth.

LO was in newborn diapers for about 2 weeks. I had to return all the newborn diapers I got . He was born at 7lbs 4 oz. he weighed 11lbs last month at his pedi appt. he will be 3 months in a couple days and the size 1 is starting to get tight on him

DD1 was 6lb 11oz and wore NBs for about 2 months.

DD was 6 lbs 2 oz and wore NB for about 12 weeks, but she's always been really small and is only 19 lbs at 18 months. DS was 6 lbs 6 oz and at 4 weeks we are still in NB size but he seems to be a heavy wetter so I think we are going to move up to size 1 once we finish the two boxes of NB I have left. We also got a ton of size 1s at our diaper shower but no NB so I've been having to buy those.

My DD was 8 lbs 9 oz at birth but dropped 9% of her weight before we left the hospital. She was in NB diapers for about 5 weeks although we probably could have gone longer. The 10 pound mark (as most NB diapers go up to) seemed to be pretty accurate.

My DD was 6lbs 13 oz at birth, dropped to 6 lbs 4 oz, but back to birthweight at week and a half. She is still in newborns and will be two months this week. And they will still fit for a while I think.

DS was 8 lb and the hospital put him directly into size ones. He never did nb so I gave them to a friend who is expecting. My advice is get some of both, but don't open any packages until LO is here and keep receipts!

My son was 6.6 at birth dropping to 5.15 when we left the hospital. He was EBF for 2 months with an occasional supplemental bottle added in around 10 weeks. He wore newborn diapers until he was about 12lbs and close to 3 months old. He's long and lean so he was in them for a while.
