Rolling over In crib HELP

My daughter has recently been rolling onto her belly in her sleep, but she wakes up crying until i roll her back over. She just doesn't like rolling herself back in her crib for some reason. Normally she can roll herself both ways but honestly has never been a big fan of tummy time. How can I safely prevent her from rolling over?

  • We had this problem with DD. Unfortunately there's not a lot you can really do but wait it out. I found that it took about a week for her to get used to it and now she likes sleeping on her belly.

  • Yep, they'll figure it out on their own after a bit.  Unfortunately, learning new "tricks" often comes with a little sleep regression because they do things like rolling over and getting "stuck" (even though they're capable of dealing with it during the day) or pulling up on the crib or crawling around instead of sleeping.  Give it some time and things will settle down again.  It's a pain for a bit though!
  • DS was able to roll for a few months but never did it in the crib until a couple of weeks ago.  We had a couple of nights of him waking up pissed off that he had rolled over but we didn't intervene.  The next day, he started army crawling ... and then we had one night of him crawling into a corner or into the sides of the crib and crying because he was pissed off.  DH intervened twice until I came home and told him to just let him learn.  Fortunately, that only lasted one night.

Agreed :) Also, after a while they may prefer to belly sleeping. My DS hated tummy time, and we went through about a week of him rolling onto his belly in the crib and not rolling back. I would go in, turn him back, turn on the sleep sheep and his mobile, then eventually he ended up figuring it out. He also started sleeping through the night right after this too!  He loves sleeping on his tummy now.  It will get better :)
