EBF is going great! LO is 3 1/2 months.
LO can roll over both back to front and front to back. She just mastered back to front at 2am a few nights ago and woke herself up!
I plan to BF the full year, and maybe longer. It'll be harder when I return to work 10/28...but I BF my first 2 kids for 10 months and 18 months so I'm confident I'll make it.
She's STTN but still sometimes gets up at 4am. If she does wake, she nurses quick and I'm back to bed in 15-20 min.
How is BFing going? very well since the start. Too well, in fact, and she refuses bottles! Hit any milestones lately? we are a little behind most of the board since my LO was born June 3 (EDD was May 30) but she is just starting to enjoy tummy time and holds her head up a lot longer than she ever has. What is your goal? I definitely want to make it to at least a year and then we'll see. Teething scares me though- I've heard horror stories of LO's mangling their mama's nipples with their new teeth. How is your LO sleeping? she sleeps a 4-5 hour stretch at first, then gets up every 2 hours and is awake for the day between 8 and 9 am.
And how about NIP? Any good stories or accomplishments? Still haven't had the balls to NIP. I always take her to the car. I'm hoping I'll get over it soon. She's really good at latching and unlatching with no help from me, so you'd think I would have no problems with the cover, but I can't seem to get the hang of it!
How is BFing going? It's going so great, I hope it continues, as I go back to work tomorrow. Hit any milestones lately? Baby milestones? She's holding up her head really well and smiling a lot She's doing great with the transition to breast milk bottles during the day. What is your goal? My first goal was to nurse without supplementing with formula during my entire maternity leave. I met this goal, with the exception a half ounce of formula in the hospital due to low blood sugar and a two ounce bottle when we got home (I felt like she was starving while my milk came in). Ever since then, it's been all breastmilk, all the time! I go back to work tomorrow and I only have 50 oz frozen, I have not been good about pumping to freeze. Some days I don't pump at all and when I do, we give her "practice" bottles. My next goal is to make it 3 more months of pumping while at work and breast feeding when we are together. Ultimately I hope to make it to 1 year at least (I'm not sure yet if I see the benefit of extended breastfeeding, other than the bonding). How is your LO sleeping? She sleeps great! She's been sleeping 10 hours through the night for about 2 weeks now. For a month prior to that she was sleeping 6-8 hours through the night. I feel very lucky! She takes 2-3 good naps a day as well. And how about NIP? Any good stories or accomplishments? I've NIP a few times now. I do retreat to my car with her usually like in a super crowded place. I went to a graduation party and a preschool event for DD and nursed "under cover" there and a few times at a friends house. Oh and last week I nursed on a river boat with about 50 people on the boat! That was probably my biggest NIP accomplishment yet.
I know we did one of these awhile ago but thought itd be nice to do a new one!

It's going great! The only downside now is the fact that I'm the only one who can feed him easily. Though I'm building a stash for date nights!
T has sttn about 5 times. Not in a row but we are getting somewhere!
I hope to bf at least a year. And then just see how it goes.
He sleeps really well at night. He does normally wake to eat a couple of times but falls right back to sleep. Naps on the other hand are a nightmare unless I'm holding him.
I nurse everywhere. I use a cover thankfully T doesn't mind. I still get weird looks but I'm covered so I don't care. I once I had a waitress switch on me cause I made her uncomfortable. Oh well. Btw I don't think people should have to use a cover. It's just personal preference.
That's so rude! I think it's so sad that people think this way. I definitely nurse with a cover, even when I go out to my car to nurse, because I'm just not comfortable having my boob or my belly showing off to the whole world. She's not a huge fan of it, but I've gotten more "skilled" at nursing with the cover and still making sure LO can make eye contact and stuff.
How is BFing going? It's going well. I return to work Thursday (teaching part-time), so I'll have to pump - probably in the car (I'm sharing my classroom). Not too thrilled about that, but whatever.
Hit any milestones lately? As of this morning/last night, Tyler rolls over in his crib. He also completely switches positions (I put his head facing north at night, but when I come in later, it's facing south!) He's recently found his feet (too cute), and now likes to talk for a long time! It's so cute! I don't wanna go back to work!!!
What is your goal? If like to breastfeed for 18 months, exclusively for the first 6.
How is your LO sleeping? We had 2 nights last week where he slept for 4 consecutive hours, unfortunately we seem to be back to waking every 2.5 hours. Sad. (FYI, he's 16 weeks tomorrow)
Jayro - I think our LOs are twins. My answers are nearly the same!
How is BFing going? Going great. i do wonder sometimes if hes getting enough but he seems to be thriing. he refuses bottles though which is trouble! Hit any milestones lately? he has started interacting a ton. He reaches and has better control of his hands... And the other day he was crazy laughing. Not just a giggle but a real laugh! What is your goal? my goal is 1 yr or until teeth become a problem.. How is your LO sleeping? he sleeps a 4-5 hour stretch at first, then gets up every 2 hours and is awake for the day between 8 and 9 am.
And how about NIP? Any good stories or accomplishments? I always go to the car. Haven't worked up the courage yet.
TTC #2: March - May 2014 - Natural cycles - no luck June 2014 - Clomid 50mg - BFN July 2014 - Clomid 50mg - BFN August 2014 - Clomid 50mg - BFN September 2014 - Clomid 50mg - Fingers crossed...
How is BFing going? It's going very well. She will happily take the breast or the bottle but not the dummy. Hit any milestones lately? she's started rolling and shifting herself round to see things. What is your goal?I definitely want to make it to 6 months preferably a year. Just depends on her teeth. I may end up EPing if the teeth look scary. Her gums were bad enough. How is your LO sleeping? Not great and I'm a tad jealous when I hear of all the other babies STTN. At the minute she sleeps a 4 hour stretch at first, then gets up every 2-3 hours. Sometimes every hour after 3am till 6am. She's awake until 7-8am then sleeps till 10:30am.
And how about NIP? Any good stories or accomplishments? I have no issue at all with NIP. I just use a scarf to protect my modesty. Often enough people don't even notice. If they do it's usually only the older generation that gets embarrassed by it. That said, if there's a nice nursing room when I'm out and about I'll use that. I think I've only had to nurse in the car twice.
I know we did one of these awhile ago but thought itd be nice to do a new one!

Such a shame that people feel uncomfortable by it.
Going great! Our goal is a year so we have quite a bit to go, but I am loving it. This is the first week she has taken each bottle of pumped milk that has been offered - we have been trying since she was 2wks (now 14wks) and had only taken 2 or 3 bottles here and there. Is that considered a milestone? Tummy time is much better now a days... Sleeping great trough the night. 6-8hours and on occasion 10! Nursing in public has been fine... Still trying to master it, but we will get there... Went with a mommy group to lunch and although I had clipped my bra back, I hadn't pulled my shirt back down - good thing I was with other moms who understood!
How is BFing going? It's getting much better! I really struggled for the first 8-9 weeks. Since he started mouthing his hands, he's learning to open wider and his latch is getting better.
Hit any milestones lately? I always feel like we're behind the majority of the board. He talks tons, is really getting better at tummy time, and uses his hands and feet to bat at toys on the kick and play.
What is your goal? 1 year minimum, but teeth scare me.
How is your LO sleeping? Most nights he gets 4-5 hours in the first stretch, then 2 hours, and sometimes even just 1 hour stretches as morning starts.
NIP I've attempted it with the cover successfully a few times, but I usually go to the car because he's a curious kid, and gets distracted easy. I don't cover in the car.

I feel that way too- you have an end of May baby too, right?
It's going well! I'm surprised how attached to it and my time with her I feel. I go back to work in 3 weeks and am really sad about missing some of those feedings in person, even though we've had our challenges.
Goal: I've committed to BM only for 6 months. When I go back to work, obviously about half will be in bottles and half nursing. I really hope that doesn't impact my supply. I would love to then pump and still offer some BM through a year but if we have to move on to formula part of the time once we do solids, I have accepted it.
Sleeping: we are 11 weeks today (jayro and others, we were June 2 so I am with you in the late babies mode!) and usually the first stretch is 5.5-6.5 hours, 7 has been longest to date. Then down for another 3, sometimes another hour or so in early mornings. I've only really figured out the late afternoon nap at this point, I think because we are always out and about during the mornings. I have started to realize she needs to sleep more at home and less on the road so I'm trying to implement a better schedule this week... But overall it isn't bad. Just not that consistent so am concerned about starting work and getting into a real routine! I like letting her naturally lead...
Nursing in public. I have just done this since day 1. Well I guess day 4 by the time we left the hospital. There are too many things I want to do each day to coordinate being home to feed. I do use a cover, just because I don't find it difficult to do so and figure that should avoid anyone trying to say anything or stare. I am happy to explain my rights, and would freak out at someone if they tried to stop me, but honestly before I had a baby I might have felt people were odd who weren't covered... So even though I see that as ignorant now, I try to remember that not everyone appreciates how important it is to those of us who nurse.
Oh milestones... Lots of smiling, giggling, found our feet last week. Still doesn't hold toys but has good head control and I am worried she will learn to roll onto tummy from back before I am ready to I swaddle her at night!
How is BFing going? It's getting much better! I really struggled for the first 8-9 weeks. Since he started mouthing his hands, he's learning to open wider and his latch is getting better.
I'm so glad to hear this! I saw your posts about your dr telling you to quit, but hadn't seen an update. I didn't want to seem stalkerish but almost made a post just to ask how you were doing! So, so glad its going better for you!
Thank you! Between no longer physically encouraging him to open wider, his own playtime with his hands, and making up some homemade APNO, the last two weeks have made a huge difference!
Also, To the PP who asked, G was born May 25th, so definitely in the later end of things.

Same here then- my LO was born May 27th, so a lot of babies on this board are 3-4 weeks older than ours! Sometimes I lurk on June 2013 to get a better gage on things lol- but I love May moms, so this is the board I post on.
How is BFing going? Much better for the last 3-4 weeks. I had thrush for about 5 weeks and seriously considered quitting. So happy I made it through that!
Hit any milestones lately? DD is SO smiley and chatty, I love it! We aren't doing great with tummy time which is kind of my fault. I haven't done it with her nearly as much as I should. I feel bad because she hates it and cries but also, even when I wait an hour after she has eaten she almost always has bad spit ups.
What is your goal? Minimum 6 months, hopefully 1 year!
How is your LO sleeping? Amazingly! She has been STTN for about 8 to 9 hours for the last 5 weeks (she is 12.5 weeks). I'm so very thankful!
I haven't NIP yet. I always go to my car. We only do the cross cradle position and I need a boppy pillow. I don't know what our deal is but the standard cradle position has never been graceful for us. She always looks and seems so uncomfortable.
How is BFing going? Well! I had been trying to wean her off a shield and now she can latch about half of the times I try without it. She had some latching issues and got used to the feel of the shield right away so I think it took her getting a little bigger and lots of patience on my part to get to this point.
Hit any milestones lately? LO is batting at toys and does pretty good at tummy time. She was born may 21 so she's on the later end of the may babies too.
What is your goal? Ehhh I still reevaluate weekly but I would ideally like to do a year, I will be happy with 6 months. I can't believe it has almost been 3 months! Honestly now that I have NIP'ed it's made me more confident that I can do this. I really need to pump more but I can't seem to find the time.
How is your LO sleeping? Not well anymore, unfortunately. She was sleeping 6 hours at a stretch then a couple more, she's regressed to 4 hours then a couple of 2 or 1 hour stretches. I miss my 6 hours! I think I may need to start a bedtime routine with her soon.
And how about NIP? Any good stories or accomplishments? I have successfully NIP'ed in a few restaurants under a cover, and on a long car trip stopped in parking lots. I don't think anyone was really paying attention, but it did wonders for my confidence about it. I recommend if you haven't tried because you're nervous go ahead and try once, the reality is that most people arent paying that much attention. At least I don't really look around and snoop at strangers, so I assume everyone else is in their own little worlds too. Haha. But really, even with the nipple shield, which is undoubtedly a PITA it's no big deal anymore. I do still bring bottles of pumped BM some places though.
Great!! I am so proud that I can do this!! I am the only one in my family besides my grandma that has been able to beyond 6 weeks.
Hit any milestones lately?
He has begun to really grab and pull toys to his mouth!! He turns 18 weeks this week and we are gearing up for his 4 month shots!!
What is your goal?
Ultimately a year but 6 months first!!
How is your LO sleeping?
Good. Maybe a fight to go down initially but he sleeps from 8-8 and dream feeds several times. I'm happy!!
And how about NIP? Any good stories or accomplishments?
I have lost all inhibitions. If he's hungry, I feed him. I've NIP while at Target, pushing a grocery cart, restaurants, you name it. I nurse a lot in his boba carrier too!!
Well. He can still make my nipples sting with a bad latch but not too bad. I am struggling emotionally and diet wise but the act of BFing is fine. I had forgotten how tough it can be to be my child's main food source.
Hit any milestones lately?
Smiling, happy, satisfied.
What is your goal?
In a perfect world he would self wean at a year. But in a perfect world I would drop my baby weight by nursing. We will see how we feel at a year. I nursed DD until she self weaned at 18 months but I was definitely ready to get my body back at a year.
How is your LO sleeping?
Sleeping acceptably. Usually up at 3:30am then back down right after. He had 3 great nights sleeping until about 6am but I still work at 3:30am which took a lot of the joy out of it.
I NIP a bunch. I am an old pro. Last week I walked DD to school then stopped at the coffee shop for an iced coffee and to feed DS before going to the post office. While I was nursing, my napkin went flying and a lady got it for me. I apologized and she said I shouldn't I worry about anything. It was sweet.

How is BFing going? Ok, only problem is A pnly likes my left side unless she is sleeping and doesn't know better.
Hit any milestones lately? I love her laughs and smiles. She is reaching for things and rolls. I think she does all the normal stuff.
What is your goal? I know I will nurse until one if physically able. I have no time set to stop so we 'll just see what happens after that. I nursed my sons about 2 years each.
How is your LO sleeping? She seems to sleep well but not too much furing the night.
Edit to add I nurse in public if A gets hungry and we aren't at home. I have nursed in restaurants, a nursing home, a fundraiser dance, malls, grocery stores, the bus, parks, walking down the street etc.. basically everywhere. I cover because I choose to but if she was hungry and I had no cover I would feed her anyway.
How is BFing going? Going great, he loves to eat. Hit any milestones lately? he has great head control and loves to smile and talk. What is your goal? One year. I only made it to 9 months with DD, she bit me one night and I yelled in surprise and that was it- she was scared for life. Luckily I did have enough of a freezer stash/able to pump enough that in addition to supplementing, she had at least one bottle of BM till she was one. . How is your LO sleeping? he sleeps a 5-6 hour stretch at first, then gets up every 2 hours and is awake for the day around 8
And how about NIP? Any good stories or accomplishments? I'll do it anywhere (covered)- if you have a problem with it go take a long walk off a short pier.
Hit any milestones lately? Holds his head up very well, socially smiles all the time, and was so close to rolling over back to stomach yesterday!
What is your goal? 6 months then hopefully 1 year.
How is your LO sleeping? 10 hour stretches!!
And how about NIP? Any good stories or accomplishments? Nope. I still go to the car. I would do it if I had a nursing cover that covered me all around.

How is BFing going?Going really well, no issues or complaints. He takes a bottle during the day fine now that I am back at work. I have about 300 oz frozen at this point, which I will need for some business trips coming up in September. Hit any milestones lately? We are in the middle of the 4 month sleep regression so it is a BAD milestone What is your goal? I hope to make it to a year, but we are also not preventing another pregnancy right now so that may interfere How is your LO sleeping? Awful! see above about sleep regression, up all night, fighting going back to sleep, etc.
And how about NIP? Any good stories or accomplishments? No issue with it, but I do use a cover. Ive done it many places and we are taking our first flight on Wednesday so Ill be nursing in the airport and on the plane.
How is BFing going? Very well! I haven't had any issues with BF only pumping. I'm trying to get a stash going for daycare.
Hit any milestones lately? He has really good head control.
What is your goal? I would like to BF until he's about a year but I'm nervous I won't be able to keep up when I go back to work.
How is your LO sleeping? He was sleeping between 4-5 hours then every 2 hours after that. Last night we had our first long night. He slept from 8-5am. I'm hoping it continues.
And how about NIP? Any good stories or accomplishments? I've only NIP at the beach. I feel like I'm still covered up more than most people at the beach. Usually I try to pump if I'm going out in public. I haven't mastered feeding when I'm out.
It's going really great so far! Though I am using a nipple shield.. I am undecided whether I want to try without or just continue since its working well so far..
He's started cooing at us
My goal is to make it to 1 year! It is a very ambitious goal but I really hope to make it. I may EP after he hits a certain age..
He sleeps excellent at night! 8-10 hours!
I've surprised myself and done very well NIP.. I just use my cover and it's pretty easy! I wouldn't do it without a cover! (If I forgot it I'd duck into a bathroom or something, but that's just me!)
How is BFing going? good. haven't introduced a bottle yet Hit any milestones lately? great head control, raspberries, smiles and laughes What is your goal? 1 year, just like DS1 and DS2, hopefully no formula, straight to cows milk How is your LO sleeping? had been sleeping solid 8-10 hours, recently started waking once within that but goes back to sleep with a quick feeding
And how about NIP? Any good stories or accomplishments? only with a cover. even though it's my 3rd I still feel more comfortable going to the car if possible
Very well, other than LO not taking a bottle but its not a huge issue because I have a year off.
Hit any milestones lately?
She slept a 7 hr stretch! Then went back to 5...
What is your goal?
It was 6 months but I may do longer since its going well.
How is your LO sleeping?
See milestone above.
I NIP at the hospital once in the waiting room and it didn't bother me at all. I don't find it uncomfortable, but I worry about other people's comfort...unfortunately.
Bfing is going ok. Lo has a really shallow latch so I'm still very sore. I also leak like crazy so I have to be on top of it when I'm out. Other than that it's been great.
I'm very proud of myself for making it 12 weeks ebf. Lo is doing great and I feel good that she's so healthy.
My goal is ultimately to nurse up to 2 years but I have smaller ones of 6 mo and 1year.
Lo sleeps from 9 till 7 with 2 dream feeds.
Nip has been no problem with the exception of my sil making comments but she's super immature. A few women at church have pointed out that I'm not using a cover (in the nursing mothers room) but I just own it. Yep,tthat's my boob! Honestly most of the time I forget I'm in public.

There's a nursing mothers room and people have a problem with you not using a cover? Ridiculous.
Ya, lol. It's behind the sanctuary and there is a window so you can watch the service. So technically the pastor could see a nip but he's 50 yards away! They think somehow I don't know that it's a window, like maybe I think it's a two way mirror.

Some people should just mind their own business. You can't really see anything anyway the baby is basically blocking the whole breast and good for you for owning it, a boob is a boob no big deal.

What is your goal? My first goal was to nurse without supplementing with formula during my entire maternity leave. I met this goal, with the exception a half ounce of formula in the hospital due to low blood sugar and a two ounce bottle when we got home (I felt like she was starving while my milk came in). He has been holding his head up a lot and laughs at himself in the mirror.
My goal is to BF for two years and get him to take a bottle. We keep trying everyday seems to be getting a little bit easier.
He sleeps great!! He usually is asleep by 8:30 and wakes up at 5:00 and will eat and usually sleep till about 7:00 or 8:00.
I BF in public covered and it doesn't bother me. You could go to the beach and see more skin then you would from me so I'm not worried.
It's going well. I return to work Thursday (teaching part-time), so I'll have to pump - probably in the car (I'm sharing my classroom). Not too thrilled about that, but whatever.

As of this morning/last night, Tyler rolls over in his crib. He also completely switches positions (I put his head facing north at night, but when I come in later, it's facing south!)
He's recently found his feet (too cute), and now likes to talk for a long time!
Sad.
(FYI, he's 16 weeks tomorrow)
my happy boy
TTC #2:
March - May 2014 - Natural cycles - no luck
June 2014 - Clomid 50mg - BFN
July 2014 - Clomid 50mg - BFN
August 2014 - Clomid 50mg - BFN
September 2014 - Clomid 50mg - Fingers crossed...
Hit any milestones lately? she's started rolling and shifting herself round to see things.
What is your goal? I definitely want to make it to 6 months preferably a year.
NIP
I've attempted it with the cover successfully a few times, but I usually go to the car because he's a curious kid, and gets distracted easy. I don't cover in the car.
My little bug, Madeline. Born June 2, 2013.
My little bug, Madeline. Born June 2, 2013.
Thank you! Between no longer physically encouraging him to open wider, his own playtime with his hands, and making up some homemade APNO, the last two weeks have made a huge difference!
Also, To the PP who asked, G was born May 25th, so definitely in the later end of things.
Edited for spelling, dang autocorrect.

How is BFing going?

Hit any milestones lately? We are in the middle of the 4 month sleep regression so it is a BAD milestone
What is your goal? I hope to make it to a year, but we are also not preventing another pregnancy right now so that may interfere
How is your LO sleeping? Awful! see above about sleep regression, up all night, fighting going back to sleep, etc.
And how about NIP? Any good stories or accomplishments? No issue with it, but I do use a cover. Ive done it many places and we are taking our first flight on Wednesday so Ill be nursing in the airport and on the plane.
How is BFing going? A lot better! We still have our moments but it is definitely smoother.
Hit any milestones lately? For some reason 12 weeks was a big milestone for me. I can't believe I made it this far bf'ing.
What is your goal? I would like to make it a full year. Right now, I am just looking at 6 months.
How is your LO sleeping? Last night was the first time he sttn! Woot woot!

Hit any milestones lately? great head control, raspberries, smiles and laughes
What is your goal? 1 year, just like DS1 and DS2, hopefully no formula, straight to cows milk
How is your LO sleeping? had been sleeping solid 8-10 hours, recently started waking once within that but goes back to sleep with a quick feeding
