GTKY: Let's talk mommy hair

Do you color your hair?
Yes

What color is your natural hair color?
Brown

Any greys?
a little at my temples and a random one here and there

What color is it now?
I got bored with my usual Feria red dye job and my greys/roots were pretty bad so I'm sitting here with some dark brown hair dye in my locks to mix it up a little. I might add some chunky blond or bright red highlights next week.

What colors have you done over the years?
strawberry blonde
red with blonde highlights
jet black
burgundy
eggplant
deep auburn
dark brown

What texture is your hair?
I have very thick curly hair

Hair cuts/styles over the years:
Childhood:
I had long hair as a kid.
Teens:
hair style was very punk/skater, always doing my bangs down over my one eye, shaved underneath
Adulthood:
It has been every length from down to my backside to jawline short. I wear it curly but wear it up a lot when I'm around the munckin

Cut/style you've never had?
cropped short or totally shaved

Have you ever donated your hair?
unfortunately no

Hair nightmare story?
Sixth grade I really wanted feathered hair (hey it was the 80's) by my curls would certainly not allow that. I insisted. I ended up with a horribly frizzy do that looked nothing like feathered hair. This really did nothing to enhance my metal mouth brace face. Ha!

    Dirty blond... ok it might be more brown at this point, but I'm in denial. I loved it when it was really blond. Seems to get darker with age.

    No.

    I'm sticking to dirty blond

    Blond
    light brown with blond highlights
    Red, but only because my hair seems to hold red as it fades.

    What texture is your hair?
    Thick and curly. I straighten my hair.

    Childhood:
    Short. My mom hates long hair. No idea why.
    Teens:
    Early teens I tried to pull off the Rachel hair cut. I was not successful.
    Adulthood:
    Medium long with layers. My mom hates it. Haha! I love long hair though. Plus I can put it up if I don't want to mess with it.

    Cut/style you've never had?
    Shaved and really short

    Have you ever donated your hair?
    No.

    Hair nightmare story?
    I decided to give bangs a try. I need them trimmed and my regular hair dresser was out for xmas. I let someone else do them. BIG mistake. They were way to short. I'm talking less than half inch when completely straight. since my hair is curly especially when it's short keeping them straight was impossible.

    yes a few here and there but getting more all the time

    I was born with dirty blonde it gets darker with age and each pregnancy
    in high school I had blonde highlights from sun in and after I graduated I put purple highlights in

    mostly straight with some wave to it

    I donate it every two years so it goes from super long to short

    Have you ever donated your hair?
    YES I've donated it 5 times every two years or so I'm growing it out for the sixth time. I've done locks for love twice and pantene four times. I highly recommend it if you've never done it it's a great feeling. If I had daughters I'd start them doing it from a very young age, my 8 year old niece has done it 3 times already.
    Hair nightmare story?
    Right before my 6th grade graduation I spent the weekend at my grandma's lake and got a knot in it that can only be described as a rats nest. It took my mom 24 hours to get it out. it was awful and my hair was down to my butt and I really didn't want it cut!

    Bond with natural highlights from the sun

    What colors have you done over the years?
    an array of hues of brown, blond and red

    What texture is your hair?
    Straight and fine.

    Hair cuts/styles over the years:
    I don't think my style has changed too much over the years. My hair is usually a straight style, with/without bangs, with/without layers. Typically in length ranging from just above to just below my shoulders. Not a lot of variation there since my hair just looks stringy if it gets too long, and I find my already round face looks really round if it's too short. I've had a perm once in my life...bad choice.

    Cut/style you've never had?
    a bob, totally shaved

    Have you ever donated your hair?
    unfortunately no, it's never been long enough to donate.

    Hair nightmare story?
    As a child my brother put gum in my hair and my mother had to cut my hair to get it out. She promised me it would be a bob, but the gum was so bad once she got in there it ended up being more of a mushroom cut. I was devastated.

    High school I let my friend dye my blonde hair with streaks of red, that turned out bright pink.  I cried.

    fine and straight, I can get a wave with curling mouse

    Long

    Adulthood:
    I've had a really short angled bob, and I've had it really long too, about half way down my back. After having DD I cut it into a medium length angled bob and am trying to grow it back out now.

    shaved

    unfortunately no

    Hair nightmare story?
    I once had a friend do an at home highlighting kit through a cap....my hair was really long at the time and it was a nightmare! I had polka dots all over my head. I called my stylist crying and he got me in the next day.

    Yes, I color my hair....I have since my second child was born when.....we gray early in my family.  I do it myself as it is cheaper and really doesn't seem that different than a salon.  I do know it is important to keep my hair as healthy as possible due to the coloring.  I use Hair-Caretips as my resource for all hair issues.

    Nope - NEVER!

    Blonde!  It has a nice ombre effect that my hairdresser always squeals over LOL  I def feel blessed in this department!

    Nope

    Blonde - tho it does get a tiny bit lighter in the summer

    Childhood:
    I had long hair as a kid. sometimes bangs
    Teens:
    let's see i chopped it super short in middle school then let it grow grow grow through high school
    Adulthood:
    Long.  Side part.  Haven't cut a major amount off since middle school.  Reaches about the lower part of my back.  Love it, super easy for me to wake up, wash and out the door!  Generally in a pony tail by 2nd period!  LOL

    the Rachel LOL or really many layers, long layers yes but never short ones

    unfortunately no

    Perm - like 4th grade.  oiy vey.  i looked like a poodle.
