  • I know DD is teething because she is literally as drooly as a leaky faucet. She also wants to bite down on things really hard (she got my finger yesterday) so I went out and bought several teethers. I noticed she prefers the soft kind over the hard kind which helps soothe her a lot. I would say your DD's crankiness is most likely a part of teething but it is hard to say because tiredness can also lead to crankiness. I don't know if your dd has any teeth in yet but when mine first got hers in they looked like little bumps underneath her gums then slowly white poked through. If it is teething, I hope your DD's come in soon and she feels better.

  • DD was definitely more cranky right before. In fact the night before, she kept waking up screaming, which is very unlike her. Also, I has a good idea from her gums. Like PP suggested, you could feel them being more raised up... Like the same width as a tooth and maybe 1mm tall.

  • Like PP said - the drool. Oh, the drool! Mine was choking on his.
But the best way I could tell was by looking at his gums. On his bottom 2, there were these little red bumps that you could see before they poked through. And right before his top 2 center came through, his gums got really red and inflamed there. He would hardly let me even look at them, and started refusing his bottle - I'm assuming it hurt to suck. If you google images of teething, you can see some to compare to.

  • My LO is cutting his bottom two teeth now, he's super cranky, has a rash on his hiney, chews everything, drools like crazy, and sleeps horrible! Just remember it's just a phase and the crankiness will stop, trust me I know it's hard, DS has never been so emotional and I'm not used to it so I'm lost right now. I just do what I can for him, cold teethers and be patient, it'll pass. Our teething gel doesn't seem to be helping much so if it gets bad we give him tylenol, but only when nothing else has helped.
  • My LO gets really clingy. L Has to be held a lot, drools- which he normally never does and puts everything in his mouth. This is our normal right now since he is 8 months old and cutting his 9th tooth right now. (and his 10th is about to poke through as well.) hope those teeth poke through quiCkly for you.

  • @littlepetals Wow, DD is 8 months and doesn't have any teeth. She does wake in the middle of the night but will go back to sleep when I put her in the bed with me. DH works most nights.
My LO is the same. When I read and compared with OP, was a reminder about how our kids are all developing at different paces.

  • Margo still have no teeth, however I can feel a little bump on the bottom. My kids usually get loose stools, a lot of drool, low grade fever, & red cheeks, then BAM- tooth.

  • DD has 3 and two more are just about through, like within the next 24-48 hours. She gets clingy, whiny, naps less, wakes up a lot at night, some times it's every 2 hours, nurses a bunch more, gnaws on everything, gets mad when I touch her gums. She takes teething pretty hard. The worst was the first two, she was up ALL night the night before, even with tylenol. Right now with her current ones, tylenol does help a lot.
