Church and donuts

Those two have always gone together for me. We grew up in a Catholic home going to mass on Fridays during school (catholic private) and then mass on Sunday with the family. I liked the idea of family time, getting dressed up, singing the pretty songs and getting donuts afterwards.
Yesterday at my friends moms funeral service I was transported back to my 9 year old self. Dressed up for mass singing pretty songs. Obviously it's a lot different now than it was then but I still found myself thinking, mmmm donuts as I sat in the pew waiting for the service to begin.
Weird I know. Anyone have an odd pairing?

  • Grocery shopping and an Iced coffee. It's a bad habit of mine. Target doesn't make it easier with the Starbucks in it.

DD1 has a ton of these though. Kid hasn't used a sippy cup in years but when ever we go to one of our friends house she always asks for a sippy cup of milk.

Yes, donuts and church go hand in hand.

  • Ours was church, sandwiches and Nutella. Me and my cousins would go to church with my grandma, and afterwards go to the small Italian store for a fresh loaf of bread, lunchmeat, and a jar of Nutella. Back home she would make us huge sandwiches with big think slices of bread and salami, cappicola, ham, provolone, which we would have to eat before we were allowed yet another big slab of bread with Nutella. No wonder I am a carb addict now!

  • The summer church on the water here serves delicious cookies. All the seasonal kids call it cookie church.
  • Church and donuts totally go together. I'm catholic too and my 3 year old niece calls Sundays "donut days".

  • Sunday's and naps.  We used to always have 2 church services on Sunday.  Morning service and night service and we'd come home and take a nap.  Even now that we have 1 morning service I always come home and take a nap.  The best part of sunday!

  • Sundays and Walmart. When I was little we lived kind of far from stores so we would always go there after church since we'd be out anyway. Also, summer and honey sandwiches. My grandma would always make them for us when we would go swimming at her house.
