Curious about bedtimes

When does you LO go to bed? Mine always seems to refuse to sleep for the night before 1 am. I don't know if it is an issue or something I should try to change. She doesn't get a lot of naps during the day (she won't stay asleep during the daytime).

  • Our DD is 9weeks. Goes down every night by 7:30pm at the latest and wakes around 3:00am to eat, then back down till 7:00am.

  • not sure when your LO was born, but by 3 weeks we were putting LO down in between 7 and 8 pm, and that;s been her schedule since.  Your ticker suggests your LO is almost 3 months, which means I would definitely start a bed time routine that aims to get LO down by 7 or 730. Not sleeping during the day probably doesn't help-have you tried black out curtains for her room?

  • DS is 2 weeks old. He doesnt sleep long stretches yet but I feed him read to him and put him in bed at about 730 so I can gety other 2 in bed by 8-830.

  • 9:30, she won't go down any earlier than that. I've tried and as soon as she lays in the crib, her eyes shoot open.

  • Yes, my LO is almost three months. I don't have blackout curtains in her room yet (good idea!), but we do have some in our room, and she is very comfortable in our bed. I take her back there sometimes to try to get her to nap during the day. Sometimes this makes her sleep a bit but she is still insisting on staying up. I don't come home from work until about 10:30 pm so I am sure that doesn't help much. I'm wondering if maybe that's the problem? Once she is down, she sleeps pretty well. She wakes up around 6 am to eat, then is back to sleep until about 8 or 9 am.

  • Yeah, blackout curtains were a lifesaver. Just now, at 5.5 months we've been able to take the blackout curtains down (she sleeps with her face pressed against the mesh bumper-always has. no idea why) but prior to that it really helped her sleep during the day during naps.

That probabley has a lot to do with it, our LO's will often mimic our schedules as far as sleeping/when we're around.  I know most research suggests an earlier bed time however, so it may help regulate her sleeping in the day and night.

  • We let him figure out his own schedule which meant he went to bed between 7 and 8 each night. Now we start is bedtime routine around 7 so he goes down for sure during that time. We go to bed pretty early though too since we are up at 4 a.m. for work each day.

  • We usually start her routine around 9pn.. she's 11 weeks and we do a bath (daddy does that), feeding with soft music, and rocking and paci. She falls asleep within 20 min and sleeps until about 4am
  • We start bed time between 630-730pm. That includes walking, bath time and eating. He is usually down before 830.
  • With my DD (18 months) we've always tried for an 8:00 bedtime. DH and I were both working full time and didn't get home until 6:30 so that was the earliest we could get her down after dinner and bathtime. Now I will be staying home with both kids so I am trying to have DS go to bed by 7 so I can do DD's bedtime routine without worrying about him.
  • DD2 is 12 weeks and goes down for the night between 930 and 1030 after her last feeding.  It was like this with DD1 up until she was about 6-8mo.  Now we have DD1 in bed by 830.

We both go to sleep after the feeding that happens around 9:00 or 10:00 pm. We have a bedtime routine but not a hard and fast schedule. LO is 6 weeks old.
