So this is totally NBR. Right now, we live in northwest TN. We are thinking of moving to east TN in about six years. Yes, there are reasons we have a specific time frame.
My question to you is where would you advise we look? I fell in love with the Chattanooga area on vacation a few years ago and always wanted to move there afterward. But the main determining factors of where we go will be location and job. We like smaller towns that are in close proximity to larger cities. DH grew up in a very rural area, I grew up in Memphis. I am a veterinary technician, and DH works in emergency medical services and rescue work not fire. So we want to goto somewhere where fire and EMS ambulance and rescue is not combined.
Any suggestions? I know it's a long way off, but I am a planner. And I am still working in takking DH into actually going through with the move. ;
Re: NBR: thinking of moving to eat TN..
I grew up in Hixson, which is a suburb of Chattanooga. It is in Hamilton County and about a 15-20 minute drive to downtown. There are a lot of great neighborhoods in the Hixson area. As for jobs, the Middle Valley Vet might be a place for you to check out... not so sure about your DH, but I'm pretty certain those are separate to some extent. They usually have ambulances and fire in the same building but you are either one or the other, not both. He could also check out Soddy Daisy for jobs, they work with TVA a lot as far as emergency preparedness, so that could be kind of fun
That is also another good area, a bit more country (and redneck at times), but I spent a lot of time there as I got older.
Good luck! Hope you get to move before your estimated date!
