Twin baby wearing

So, as pp said, I'm struggling with how to handle getting stuff done for my older kids and always having one twin screaming while the other is held.
So, I love to wear my babies and but is it really feasible with twins? I have a k'tan, and it boasts a twin position, but I have yet to try it. It seems like it'll be very tight in the k'tan. My girls are about 9lbs and 8lbs. But the moby looks a little more adjustable.
Has anyone done this with success? Is there a carrier you prefer?

Re: Twin baby wearing

  • I would love to know this also.

I usually end up wearing whichever one is fussier [who am I kidding, I always end up wearing B] and then picking up L when needed and just holding him w one hand and using my other hand to deal w my 3yo.

In reality, I just feel like I'm covered in babies all the time.

  • I plan on trying this when mine (13 weeks, 8 weeks adj) are older!

  • I tandem wear like the above poster posted. One in front (k'tan), one in back (ergo).

  • I personally never felt comfortable with them both in a carrier together...people bonking heads, getting squished and suffocated against each other. I'm positive it was user error, but I would wear one and hold one if need be.

That's exactly what's holding me back with the k'tan!
  • I've done one in the front in a Moby and one in the back in an Ergo.  When they were teeny tiny... like under 8lbs. each I did them both in the Moby, but not as they got bigger.

I've done this with my twins. It takes a little getting used to but they were both pretty happy.

That was nearly 62 lbs of toddlers strapped in there. Both were in ERGObaby carriers (one original and one sport).

  • I bought two Becos thinking I'd wear them both like in the pictures above. I never got comfortable doing it.  Looking at the pictures though, I may have to give it another try.

We are going this route - the Weego twin carrier - until they are too big to carry...it's kind of pricey, but I think worth it for the first little bit.

  • If you are on Facebook there is a tandem babywearing group where you can ask questions and get advice, watch instructional videos, etc.  It is really interesting to see all the different ways that people wear two at the same time.

  • The weego is soo cool! Thanks ladies!
  • I wore both in the Moby the first few weeks, but it was pretty much impossible to do anything else when they were small, and the weight limit is 20 lbs so you can't do that long. I fared better having an older kid hold a rattle or whatever instead :)

  • I would wear one and carry the other. It's amazing what you can do one-handed LOL

  • I have managed to get mine in a woven wrap (one in front and one in back) a couple times and was really surprised at how comfortable it was. I need to practice with it some more before I feel confident in it (they are 11 and 12 lbs now).

We are also going this route - it's pricey but with a 2 year old already at home, and the twins arriving in October I felt it was the best. Even if we only use it for the first 3 months or so it will be so much easier to get out of the house with, especially if I'm by myself.

We bought it new, but I did a lot of searching online for a used one and the resale value is pretty high if it's in good condition.
