Hey mamas. Our LO is now 4 months and getting her to fall asleep at night is a constant battle. Usually we change her into PJ's, put her in a sleep sack, and then nurse. If she doesn't fall asleep bouncing or rocking ensues. Sometimes she falls asleep and as soon as we lay her down she wakes up or sometimes it's 10 minutes later. This can go on for a few hours.
We have been trying to do a bedtime routine but it falls apart with crying (hers, not ours). She also fights taking a nap during the day and we struggle with that as well.
We tried CIO once and won't do that again, it was a terrible disaster.
Any advice from any parents out there who have managed an easy bedtime?
Re: Bedtime troubles
Do you have any sleep associations? I bought a music box / projector that I play while rocking to sleep. Eventually, I'll put him in his crib drowsy, but he'll know when he hears that music, that it's time to fall asleep.
Why aren't you swaddling anymore? Try the Magic Sleep Suit?
We also would like try avoid CIO even when she gets older.
Thankfully she will sleep 6-8 hours and will fall right back asleep if she nurses at night. It's just getting her to bed that is such an ordeal.
We have had this problem and it works better for us if we start earlier too. We have also started some sleep training. I give her her blankie and binkie and comfort her a few minutes when she in her crib then i leave. I come back every few minutes until she sleeps. I haven't let her get to crying, just fussy. I don't think i could handle CIO. SHe gave in last night within 5 minutes. It took 20 after the MOTN feeding. She is getting better.
We also gave up swaddling because she was fighting it during the night. We went to the Magic Sleepsuit which is working great. She is also starting to associate this with sleep time. she gets in it right at sleep time. We take her out for MOTN and then back in to sleep again. She doesn't use it during the day.
My husband laid him on his stomach one night (which I did NOT want to do) and he's slept much better now. He can roll and has great head control. He still is just hard to get to sleep in general.
