December 2012 Moms

Anyone else's baby waking up earlier?

DD has slowly been waking up earlier and earlier and today she was wide awake at 5am. I tried putting her back to sleep but she was not having it. I think this may be teething or a growth spurt (at least I am hoping). I may have to switch to a later bedtime though because she is slowly pushing that up too. Ugh, I feel like I am in zombie mode today.

  • Crazy kid! Doesn't she know her momma needs sleep as well!

What time does she currently go to bed?

  • @sweettalkin417, she currently goes to bed at 7pm sometimes not til 730 but yesterday she fell asleep at 630.

Also, I give props to you all who have more than 1 kids because I don't know how I could possibly handle another one right now.

I feel the exact same way. I've told DH that we might be one-n-done. I may eat those words later, but parenting - as wonderful as it is - is no joke.
  • We have been working on our own sleep issues over here and I was hoping maybe by moving up DD2's bedtime a bit earlier it would help. So, last night I tried to put her down at 7:30 instead of 8:00 and she fought it so much, even though she was rubbing her eyes. I don't know. I am going to try again tonight.

Speaking of having two, DD1 is old enough now that bedtime is easy with her. I do have give her bath, brush teeth, and pj's, but once that's done, she gets into bed and falls asleep. She STTN for the most part.

This age/stage we are in right now is hard. Teething, separation anxiety, sleeping issues. It does get better! I promise!

  • Yes! DD has been going to bed at the same time, but 2 of the last 3 mornings she's woken up 30 mins early (not a big deal, but it makes it harder to get ready for work b/c it's just her and I in the morning and she's at the getting into everything stage)

  • Have you tried feeding her and putting her back down? If I don't feed Alivia at the 4/4:30am wake up then she will get up at 5 or 6/6:30 and not go back to sleep. If I feed her at that 4am time she will usually sleep till 7.

  • @perfectlove09 yes, I have tried feeding her. She used to wake around 3 or 4 for a feed then sleep til 7 but lately she wakes up earlier and won't go back down. I hope she goes back to her old schedule or its time to try something new.

This is Sam lately too. He was sick and teething and now he's back to the 4am wake up, but he goes back down as long as we keep the room dark and have no interaction. Do not make eye contact! I repeat - DO NOT make eye contact! ;)

  • @JandACoffee, Right now we have dark curtains up but I think light is still seeping in. I might have to invest in better ones cause DD does seem very sensitive to light.

  • Yes! My LOs all of a sudden think that 4:45 is an acceptable wake-up time @-) We tried putting them down an hour later but they woke up at the same time the next morning. Oh well....I'm chalking it up to another phase...just gonna wait til it passes....and pour some more coffee....

  • Yes! This is us! This week LO has been waking 1 to 2+ hrs early, and I don't know why. It's so not good. I hope things fix themselves, because I don't really know what to do about it.

This.  Yes, me too!  It's been 1.5 hrs earlier this week.  I'm really hoping it's just a growth spurt and will go back to normal soon.  I miss my sleep and am dreading the early wake up calls this weekend.
