Blended Families

There goes my vacation!

So I blew a tire yesterday. Now I have to use the money had saved for gas for my trip to get, not one but two, tires put the front of my vehicle. Ugh.

Honestly, though I am not that upset. My friend is, but we can pan something else another time.

DH told me not to cancel my trip and he would make the money work, but that would just be putting to much of a strain on our wallets. It would probably throw off the schedule we have come up with to have all but my student loans paid off by Spring. And right now working all that down to buy a house is much more important to me.

So right now DH is working on getting tires for my vehicle. And as a plus, all four of us had a wonderful morning together. DH Always has a way of making things run smoothly in the mornings, and since he was off today, we were all able to ride together to drop the kids where they needed to go and then get me to work. He and I had a nice morning together.

And since I already have the weekend off, I am still going to enjoy some me-time and go see my dad Saturday or Sunday. Vehicle will be fixed by then.

  • Being an adult sucks.  I remember being a kid and thinking, "When I'm a grown up I can do whatever I want and life is going to be so great!!"  Seriously, I feel like the whole "adulthood" thing is guilty of false advertisement.

I'm glad you're making some great lemonade out of the lemons life threw at you

  • I'll second that! Being an adult sucks. But I'm with ya. We're making sacrifices to ensure that we are staying on the right track to purchase a home.

Good to see you're making the best of it though!
  • I know the feeling! I'm sorry this happened, it sucks. DH & I are trying to save up for a house down payment as well, and it just seems like any time we have a substantial amount in savings, something comes up.

  • Well, I got a bit of housework done last night and this morning, and now DH and I are getting to run errands together without kids (which actually is a treat lol). And tomorrow I am going to take DS for his very first movie theater experience to see "Planes." Then Sunday I am going to see my Dad. So a good and fairly relaxed weekend planned overall.
