What do you do with LO...

when you need to get something done? I'm just curious as to what other moms are doing. I usually just put LO in his pack and play. Some days he doesn't mind it for a little bit, other days it's like I'm torturing him. I hate hearing him scream, but sometimes I have to get things done around here!

Re: What do you do with LO...

  • I either stick her in the living room floor and close the gate (its pretty babyproof in there, and I can see the whole room from the kitchen) or I stick her in her room and put up the gate. We have the PnP set up as a ball pit but she doesn't last very long in it.

  • If we're outside and working on the garage - pack n play.  Inside we just let him roam.  It's very baby proof and he has toys everywhere.  Lately I've been putting him in his high chair and putting some cheerios in front of him.  That can occupy him for about 20 minutes.

  • I have a sectioned off play area of the living room I put her in that's filled with toys.  Sometimes she'll play in there by herself for a long time, other times she wants nothing to do with it.
  • I wish LO would be occupied with Cheerios! He liked them when he first started eating table foods, but now he wants nothing to do with them and within 5 minutes, every single one of them are on the floor. He will sit in his exersaucer if I put some yogurt melts in the snack tray but once they are all gone, he wants out. I do as much as I can when he's napping, but he's not a long napper...maybe 30 minutes at best!

  • We moved recently and when we did, we baby proofed the whole house. So I let LO roam around as he wants. He loves to go off and explore independently. The only rooms he doesn't have access to are the bathrooms and kitchen. He will also sit in his high chair and eat puffs all day long if we wanted.

  • We put her in her pack n play or in her exersaucer or in our playgate.  It's huge and we keep tons of toys in there for her.  She actually really likes being in there. Sometimes we'll lay it over a blanket when we're out in the back too, so she has some room to safely crawl around.

  • We usually use the pnp or high chair. Sometimes I let her play in her room, but I can't monitor her as well when she is in there.

    More or less this.

DS is a good napper, so I do most of my chores while he naps (sweeping, dishes, laundry, dinner prep etc).

When he's up, he's in the living room and I close off the gate to the kitchen/dining room area (eg, when I'm prepping food).  Sometimes I'll put him in the jumperoo when I'm cooking.  We have a kitchen peninsula and I put his travel high chair on the counter, so sometimes I put him there with some snacks while he watches me do kitchen work.

Upstairs is his room and next to it is the W/D. If I'm doing laundry, he's in his room with the gate closed.

I rarely put him in the PnP cuz he almost always cry the moment I put him there.

  • I can't leave her on her own anywhere. Our house isn't childproof at all. She climbs out of her high chair, so someone has to be right there with her.she can play independently for ages, but I'd need to keep an eye on her in case she went missioning off.
