Jungle gym

Has anyone else's baby turned their crib into a jungle gym during nap times? I walk in to check on him and he's either sitting up playing, playing with the crib bars or trying to stand up. Today I went in twice because he was crying, and it was like a panic cry almost; he's learning to pull himself up and hits the bumper out of the way just for his legs to fall through and hes holding onto the top of the crib for dear life. It's sad but a little funny. It's nearly impossible to get him to go down for a nap now and then he gets sooo cranky! What have you done to help with this? I feel horrible when he doesn't nap, I always feel like I'm doing something wrong and then second guess myself, I hate it.

Re: Jungle gym

  • Yup... Every time she's crying I go in there and she's standing up.  I lay her back down, put her paci in, put her blanket back over her, and walk out of the room.  It usually only happens once or twice before she gets the hint and goes to sleep.  I end things after I go in the 4th time - take her out of the crib and we go back to playing.  If she's tired again after an hour or so, we try nap time again... This usually only happens about once or twice a week though.

  • Umm ya, my kid doesn't do that. Anytime she is in her crib and awake, she is screaming bloody murder. FX you find a solution soon and your LO starts taking naps again. Naps are essential!

  • Today was another horrible nap day, I'm really hoping it's from teething and will get better soon. He's just so tired, he plays or screams in his crib and is moody and cranky out of the crib, I just can't win! Plus he is fighting bed time and still waking up at 6 so he's getting less and less sleep =/ I call him my emotional man ha
