Possibly facing induction

So I have diet controlled GD and I am 40w1day. My midwife wants to induce at 41 weeks if LO isn't here. I've seen so many situations where the induction leads to an epidural. If it comes to induction, what are ways that helped you cope with the idea of induction and were you able to make it through the pain med free? Thanks!

    Is she wanting to use pitocin? That is the only instance I've noticed that women want an epidural. Ive seen quiet a few stories where women have given birth even with pitocin. I would tell you to try making lots of love with your husband, they say thats what puts baby in their and thats what gets them out! =) Also try nipple stimulation! Good luck and try not to stress.

    Yeah, the want to have me come in at night and have cervidil inserted and then start Pitocin the next morning. Doing all the natural things now ;)

    My girlfriend was induced with pitocin last November and she made it through without an epidural.  The way she got through it was she kept reminding herself that interventions usually lead to more interventions- meaning she was worried that with the use of pitocin and an epidural she might end up needing a c-section.  When she thought of it that way she was able to make it through.

    For a planned induction, having cervical ripening agents before the pitocin can help. Also starting with a lower dose of pitocin to see how you react can help. They can give you more, but they cannot take it away. 

    I have read of women using the birth breathing and position techniques to get through a pitocin birth without an epidural.
