weird bumps

Okay so I don't know if these two things are related but LO had a real bad stomach virus a couple weeks ago and then when we went for follow up at the doc last week, she said his throat was red but he was negative for strep. Over the weekend I noticed he had what looked like tiny mosquito bites on his legs and one on his arm, then the next day I saw a few more on his feet and hands, but I figured it was mosquito bites or chiggers from playing in the grass. They didn't seem to bother him at all and they are gone now. Well a few days ago I started having a sore throat and I also had what looked like mosquito bites all over my legs but then this morning I woke up with dozens more bumps, soo I'm like okay either there is a mosquito nest in my bed lol or we both have some kind of weird virus. Could it be hand foot mouth? I made the mistake of googling images of HFM- Ewwww!! OUrs definitely do not look like that. They look just like tiny bug bites, they are not really dark red or anything. I have a bunch of new ones coming in on my hand they feel like blisters forming under the skin at first you can't see them but I can feel them. They are all over my feet, toes, hands, fingers, legs, even my buttcheeks!! (sorry tmi). LO had a bit of a rash on his bum too but I figured it was from the diarrhea. I am taking him to the doc tomorrow but I am very curious and kinda freaking out!!!

Your description of blisters under the skin feeling them before you can see them screams HFM to me but the location on your rear seems odd. I had HFM with DD last year and my symptoms were much worse than hers. It got very painful to walk or use my hands.

Yes the little bumps on my hands and feet are killing me!! Did yours itch? After they come up they itch soo bad!!! DS didn't seem bothered much by his and they're all gone. I had some on my knees and legs too?

I second the HFM -- both my girls came down with it but DH and I didn't get it. My older one had barely any symptoms but when my youngest got it, I put the pieces together. She actually had really bad bumps on her rear. I thought it was a really severe yeast/diaper rash until the bumps started appearing on her cheeks, feet and fingers.

Honestly, the blisters/bumps can pop up anywhere -- but they get better! Hang in there.

I third HFM. It sounds very similar to what DD had when she got it. Not as bad as most of the pictures online are, which was nice. She also got them on her bum, so I don't think that's abnormal. Unfortunately there's not much you can do for it, but we used Medicine Mama's Sweet Bee Magic on DD's and it seemed to help. Hope you both feel better soon!

Thanks ladies! I have gotten it much, much worse than DS. I mean I feel like every hour I'm feeling more and more spots/bumps come in on my legs and hands! Does the sun/heat make it worse? I laid out yesterday.. FML! Is there anything I can do to prevent it from speeding more on my body?

My sister and husband both got it when their kids had HFM. Like most "childhood" illnesses, it hits us grown ups way harder. It will spread wherever, nothing you can really do there. But it should be stopping soon and improving since it seems you're a few days in now. So sorry! I hope you feel better soon.
