Abnormal A/S results

I'm a fucking wreck right now. I kept it together on the phone while talking to my doctor because he told me over and over again not to worry but now I can't stop crying.

Anyway he called me today with the 19 week A\S results. He said "everything looks great, due date is the same, however there is a "small focus" on the left cardiac ventricle."

They don't know what it is yet and I have to go back for another ultrasound in a few weeks.

I'm also not feeling him move often - MAYBE once a day so my mind is going to bad places right now.

  • Sending prayers your way for sure. But, I will say that if the doctor prefaced everything by saying, "everything looks great," the chances that it is life-altering are small, so that's reassuring!

  • Sending all the love.  Hoping all that happens at the next u/s is that they give you more snaps of your sweet boy and that they give you only positive news.  Until then, we're here for you. <3

  • Its to early to feel baby moving constantly I go 12-24 hours sometimes before I feel the baby move. Ultrasounds are NOT always accurate the us they are going to send you for is prob a fetal echo which will be a detailed us of only little ones heart. I know how easy it is to stress trust me, take a deep breath and relax the stress will only make you and your baby sick. Hopefully the u/s was just wrong sweetie. hugs

  • Hugs to you, hang in there.

I think there have been several ladies on this board who had similar experiences and their follow-up scans showed it was nothing. I hope this is the case for you, too.

  • I'm having a follow up US tomorrow for a couple of issues from my anatomy scan 4 weeks ago and my doctor said that follow ups are needed all the time and everything usually turns out to be just fine. So try not to worry!

Also, I'm 24 weeks today and am just recently feeling regular every day movement. I didn't feel anything till 22 weeks or so. It will happen. :)

  • Sending prayers your way. At my 21 week ultrasound, the 29th of last month, my dr also told me that they were having a hard time finding the top ventricle (he didnt give me medical terminology) but to not worry (which is super hard) bc it could be the position of the baby. That since her heartbeat was strong he didn't seem to think there was anything wrong with her heart but to double check we are having another u/s on the 26th. I refuse to google so don't do that but try to stay calm! Any stress is bad stress! Good luck and I wish you the best!
  • I know it's really hard but try not to worry. Your OB said everything else looked great, and if they were really worried, they'd get you back into the office faster than a few weeks. Try to do something today to treat yourself and relax a little bit so it doesn't wear on you so much. Thoughts and prayers your way.
  • Thoughts and prayers sent your way. Try to focus on the doc saying it looks great, and stay in a happy place.

  • Sorry you are going through this!  It might have just been a bad angle on the u/s. "Small focus" doesn't sound like a for sure concern yet. Try to stay relaxed & don't worry. I'm hoping all gets cleared up & is all well on your follow up u/s!

  • Try not to stress out, he said everything looks great and you'll have another scan and just as other PP have said, I'm sure it's going to turn out to be nothing. Thinking of you (((hugs)))

  • Sending you tons of T & P's.  I'm 21 weeks as well and my second pregnancy and still barely feel LO move once a day.  I know it's so hard to do, but hang in there.
  • I'm so sorry for your stress. Don't Google and try not to worry. Follow up ultrasound are common. When they found something wrong with my baby they got me in the next day because they were sure there was an issue. If the Dr said it looks great if hang on to that.

  • I’m sorry to hear about this but TRY to think positively and like the other ladies have said, stay far, far away from Google!  Prayers to you for a healthy LO!

  • With DS we had a heart scare at his a/s too. The ultrasound tech thought there was a small hole in his heart. Totally freaked me out. They referred me to a pediatric cardiologist for another ultrasound. The cardiologist looked at the heart and said it was nothing. She said at 20 weeks the heart isn't even fully developed yet so even if there was some small hole or imperfection, it usually fixes itself by the time baby is born. She was right. They checked DS's heart after he was born and it was perfect. Don't google and get yourself worried for nothing!

  • Sending you hugs! Sorry sweetie!
  • I am sorry you are going through this and I agree with the others that said to stay off of google.  Your Dr. said that everything looks great except for a "small focus" on one of the ventricles.  I hope that your second a/s puts you at ease.  Also, only 20 weeks it is normal to feel only sporadic movement from the baby.  Hang in there.  Keeping you in my thoughts.
  • Yes, hang in there are google is bad.  You and your LO will be in my thought and prayers.
