Pregnant after 35

Check in!

There are so many new ladies on the board (yay and congrats to all of you!) and it's been a long time since I've heard from a lot of the veterans, so I think it's time for a check in! I know that Lauren is crazy busy with work so I will take the reins here temporarily. Forgive me for not having the list to post with everyone's DD.

Please list the following info in your post:

Due Date
How far along are you?
Do you have any new symptoms or developments?

The question for this check in is:
How are you and DH getting along at this point in your pregnancy? Have you had difficulties and if so how have you worked through them, or are you still struggling?

Hope everyone is doing great!
Me:41, DH:41 Positive for MTHFR mutations- one copy C677T, one copy A1298C. One daughter born on Thanksgiving in 2013. Six losses.

Re: Check in!

  • My due date is November 25.

I am 25 weeks, almost to 3rd tri!

I have recently been hit with HORRIBLE back spasms. It's really thrown me for a loop. I am trying some yoga stretches, I hope it will help. My next appt is Aug 29 when they will do another ultrasound and give me the glucose test. Can't wait to see my wiggly baby girl again!

My DH and I have had all kinds of struggles in this pregnancy, but in all honesty we had struggles before the bfp and all the things he said would change once we became parents are still the same. My DH is having a very hard time growing up. He won't see a counselor with me so at this point I really don't know how it's going to go. I would like to believe he is capable of change, but so far he does not have a good track record. So it continues to be a struggle. I guess only time will tell.

  • I'm a newbie here. This baby is my 5th.

    Due date Oct. 28th.

    29 weeks

No new symptoms but I think my boobs got bigger, again. I'm already wearing a DD. Just remembering that I had to buy an I when my milk came in with #1. Not looking forward to that.

DH and I are getting along fine. I'm more snippy than usual with everyone in the house. He keeps asking me why I'm being so mean. You think by now he'd have a clue. LOL!!

How far along are you? 9 weeks.
Do you have any new symptoms or developments? Still have the first trimester blahs. I'm fortunate not to have severe symptoms, but I'm already looking forward to the second tri!

How are you and DH getting along at this point in your pregnancy? Have you had difficulties and if so how have you worked through them, or are you still struggling? So far, it's been good, although I think that's mainly because we're both still in denial! We're debating all the first trimester tests and screenings and that's a little stressful because we're going on vacation during the 11th week.

AMA & SAIF. TTC #1 since Oct. 2010. DX: Unexplained. BFP on break after 32 months trying and 2 med cycles. Baby girl born at 40w0d!

    Due date: 11/12/13

How far along are you? 27 weeks

New symptoms or developments: I have been on hospital bed rest since July 24th for contractions and a shortened cervix. I will be in the hospital until 32 or 34 weeks or when the babies are born. I hope to last until 38 weeks. We are striving to avoid any NICU time.

DH and I are getting along great. He has been so wonderful in taking care of everything, so I can just concentrate on growing our babies.

  • Due Date-  November 21
How far along are you? 25 will be 26 weeks in 2 days
Do you have any new symptoms or developments? Nope just tired but that is nothing new.

My DH and I are getting along fine.  There are days I worry about what baby #2 is going to do to our  /my stress level.  He is very good but I am basically the one taking care of our daughter 90% of the time. We both are in education so we are lucky in that we have the summers "off" and just work part-time to supplement our income. During the summer I get up with her in the morning, feed her her meals, keep her entertained, bathe her and get her to bed. He has even said he gets frustrated when he can't do what he wants to do (putz around the garden without DD pulling at the plants, checking e-mail on the laptop without her pulling down the screen or demanding a kids song be played on youtube.  He really is going to have to step it up once baby #2 comes and I think he is going to have a hard time.  Oh and he is working at night and doesn't get home from work until 2:30 in the AM and is constantly grouchy upon waking up and I want to punch him because I am exhausted and I have been up for at least 2 hours wrangling our 17 month old.  I could claw his eyes out some days.  LOL but really overall things are good.  I just get easily irritated when pregnant.

How far along are you? 37 weeks

Do you have any new symptoms or developments? No, still getting out for hikes & my blood pressure is good. The heat knocks me out...so I try to avoid exercising in the heat.

How are you and DH getting along at this point in your pregnancy? We get along really well. Over the past few weeks, we've really enjoyed preparing frozen meals to get us through the first months of newborn care.

A few months ago we worked through this challenge: DH did not take on any tasks related to baby preparation (planning/purchases for gear/nursery/car, classes, etc.). Those (on top of work & prenatal appointments) deprived me of leisure time. I was upset as DH enjoyed more free-time than me. I negotiated for him to take on additional straight forward chores (grocery shopping and yard work) so that I had time freed up in some other areas. This works well for us. I've also talked with him about taking on a few other house chores (laundry & cooking) during the first post-natal weeks when he will be on paternity leave and I will be breast-feeding 40-70 hours per week.

  • Due Date: Feb 15

    Timeline: I'm 13 weeks

I am currently on restricted activity due to a 6x1cm sub chorionic bleed and "marginal" placental previa. This was diagnosed about 3 weeks ago after a scary ER trip and follow up u/s's with my OB. Last week's follow up u/s showed no change. OB's office has referred me to see a Perinatalogist this Thursday for further follow up. I also have a history of PTL and cervical funneling so they are referring me early. I have no history of previa or SCB.

DH and I are getting along really well. We've never had a real fight in our marriage. He is very excited about being a daddy again but is taking my current situation very seriously. The main stress this time around is that his job now has him working 11-12 hour days because of layoffs (and he's salary so it's no pay increase :P) so I'm having to rely on my oldest to help me with the LO's and supper until DH gets home and I park my butt on the couch or in bed.

Do you have any new symptoms or developments?  Just tired most of the time.  Have a repeat a/s next Thursday, had some difficulty visualizing arteries/veins of the heart last go around.  But, I heard that having a second a/s is fairly common and trying not to stress about it.  Looking forward to seeing out LO again.

How are you and DH getting along at this point in your pregnancy? Have you had difficulties and if so how have you worked through them, or are you still struggling?  We are getting along well.  My husband does not work, but does more than his fair share at home-which helps me immensely in my high stress job.  My husband worries way more than me about baby and also worries about not catching on quickly on how to care for a baby-no experience for him-but I think that he will do fine!

  •  Due Date How far along are you? 3/27/14 I will be 8 weeks tomorrow!
Do you have any new symptoms or developments? I continue to be really tired. The nausea has kicked in this week. Plus round ligament pain. I am happy since last week was symptom free and I was starting to freak out.
The question for this check in is: How are you and DH getting along at this point in your pregnancy? Have you had difficulties and if so how have you worked through them, or are you still struggling? DH is great. I think he has forgotten about the being exhausted all the time from last time. But he has been helping with bedtime routine with DS every night so I can have 30 minutes or so to relax after coming home from working and making dinner. Then I can go up for stories and cuddles then relax the rest of the night.

  • Due Date:December 9 23 weeks along Symptoms: I've started getting a pain on my left outer thigh (similar to sciatica, but in a different spot). I am also finding myself to,take more breaks when doing physical tasks. My DH and I get along well. We have had a couple of tense moments when he thought I was exerting myself too much, and I would like to get moving on some baby-related tasks at he hasn't set aside time for. But he's hugely patient with my moods and freak outs, and I am super grateful for that.

  • Hi!

I'm a lurker, but thought I'd introduce myself via the check-in.

Due Date: Feb 5, 2014 (our daughter was due Feb. 5, 2010 -- and was born on the 6th!)
How far along are you? 15 Weeks
Do you have any new symptoms or developments? Still have plenty of morning sickness, which is super-fun, and heart-burn. We just had the Maternit21 test, and everything came back all clear, so thrilled about that. And it's a boy!

The question for this check in is:
How are you and DH getting along at this point in your pregnancy? Have you had difficulties and if so how have you worked through them, or are you still struggling?

As a previous poster mentioned, I'm a bit snippier than usual w/ both the husband and the kid -- the crumbs are driving me CRAZY. We're also in a tight space because we have a one-bedroom that will soon be bursting w/ four people (we live just outside NYC). And we're a bit stressed about money, but that's not really new! Still, we're excited about the baby and trying to enjoy some downtime with our daughter while she's still an only child!

    Hope everyone is doing great!

  • Hello!

Due Date: Dec 5 - FTM
How far along are you? 24 Weeks
Do you have any new symptoms or developments? Having some serious Sciatica pretty much 24/7. Desk job doesn't help.

The question for this check in is:
How are you and DH getting along at this point in your pregnancy? Have you had difficulties and if so how have you worked through them, or are you still struggling?

Getting along pretty well. It has been stressful though as we have had my brother, SIL and their 4 month old living with us for past month. DH has struggled with them being in the house and us trying to get a major remodeling project done in time for the baby. I keep reminding him that it is temporary (only a few more weeks) and what are you going to do, its family... But all in all we are pretty good.

  • Scheduled for a c-section 9/17/13. 34 weeks along.

New symptoms: just started swelling in my ankles so wearing heels is not as comfortable

:(  Also having a lot of hip pain when waking in the morning due to sleeping on my side.  Pillow between the legs isn't helping too much.  Anyone have any other suggestions that worked for you?

Me and DH are getting along pretty well.  He lost his job 1 month after we found out we were pregnant and we have a 6 year old so he is going to try to be Mr. Mom and see how it works out.  I think he's excited but also feeling a little less because he's not working.  Hopefully it will work out because he is an excellent Dad!  My DH's step-brother is in hospice - has been battling pancreatic cancer - so this time is extremely emotional for the family, which is adding some additional emotional stress.  I have a high stress management job and am in the midst of trying to hire 2 new managers so I'm a bit stressed out right now too.  With everything going on, I'd say we're doing pretty darn well.  Looking forward to 12 weeks of leave and time alone with my DH and a nice glass of wine!!

Do you have any new symptoms or developments?  Verifi testing came back normal!  Baby is a BOY!  Hoping to finally announce to friends and family this week!  Morning sickness is almost gone.  So happy to be off the progesterone.

How are you and DH getting along at this point in your pregnancy? Have you had difficulties and if so how have you worked through them, or are you still struggling?  DH and I are getting along well.  Our biggest stressor is the lack of family support and getting moved out of our current home before the baby is born.

  • Thank you Guennie for posting this new check in-I was literally thinking about this check-in on my way into the office this morning, and how we just need to start a brand new one. But, I'm at the office on Sunday morning and not predictable as to when I get a chance to post stuff.
    Due Date- November 13
How far along are you? 27 weeks 5 days
Do you have any new symptoms or developments? Not really, thank goodness, everything has been going smoothly.  It was so difficult to get pregnant, but being pregnant has been a breeze so far and I am very grateful.  I just spent 3 weeks away at training camp for my job, working 15-16 hour days with no days off.  I am happy that I could keep up as well as I did, no special treatment for this pregnant lady!  (I did get a more comfortable bed in my dorm room though, so I guess that's special treatment ;).
I did take my glucose test on Thursday and though I didn't hear from the doctor yet, I received the results and I have a 170, so I know I will have to go for the 3 hour test. I'm so annoyed,  I just hope I pass the 3 hour.

The question for this check in is:
How are you and DH getting along at this point in your pregnancy? Have you had difficulties and if so how have you worked through them, or are you still struggling?
DH and I get along great. We rarely fight, but that doesn't mean we don't have disagreements because we do.  However, most of our arguing stems from issues in dealing with his 2 older daughters, (18 and 20).  Our biggest stressor this summer has been dealing with his ex wife on the issue of college tuition for his younger daughter.  Yes, he will have one starting college this week, and an infant in November.  Other than that, things are great and I couldn't ask for a better partner.

Do you have any new symptoms or developments? Was just told I need to undergo maternal-fetal medicine consult to check length of my cervix due to a LEEP procedure 10 years ago. Freaking out a bit about this.

The question for this check in is:
How are you and DH getting along at this point in your pregnancy? This is our first pregnancy and things are great. He is super supportive and is focused on doing whatever we need to to make sure I have a healthy pregnancy and a happy healthy LO. I don't know what I would do without him. I am the worry wart and pessimist in the relationship and he is an eternal optimist. He is my ray of sunshine and his name is actually Ray lol.

  • Due date: 12/29

How far along? About 21 weeks.

Symptoms/developments? All prenatal screening indicates a healthy baby. Somewhat concerned about a large fibroid that could necessitate a C section. Otherwise, I feel great - so much better than I did in the 1st trimester.

Challenges with DH? Our chief parenting stress relates, not to the baby-to-be, but to our 2.5 year old toddler, who is having some problems with sleep.  He went from being a champion sleeper as a baby to a toddler who has been very difficult to put to bed and keep in bed all night ever since he graduated to a toddler bed (he started climbing out of the crib).  As a result, we've had some sleep deprivation and some debates about how to solve our son's sleep problems.  Otherwise, we're happily looking forward to Baby #2's arrival.
  • Due date: 12/18

How far along? About 23 weeks

Symptoms/developments? Fibroids, but per doc shouldn't be an issue. I am actually more tired in my 2nd tri than in my first.  My wrist is making some weird popping sound, but doesn't hurt. Arms fall asleep rather easily.  But no major issues.

Challenges with DH? Not too many. He actually said he was surprised everything had been as smooth as it has. He had heard some horror stories from friends.  My only thingis I am a major planner and like to get as many things done early as I can, because you never now what might happen. I think this stresses DH out a bit.  As he thinks I am rushing everything. I tried explaining I am doing this now because later on, I may not be able to help.  So far he isn't buying that reason.  So I am trying to compromise. New crib and mattress my mom bought is in the garage, still in boxes. Will probably move them in at the end of September. So no pun intended, we are taking baby steps. :)

So far DH and I get along as normal.  I'm grouchy, lol, and he's the same as PP asking why.  I do have a slightly shorter fuse about stuff.
