TTC After a Loss

just got back from pre-op appointment

okay, so it turns out that my surgery is actually SURGERY!!!!  I know that sounds like a no brainer, but when the dr kept saying laproscopy/hysteroscopy, I just figured that the hysto part meant that they would go in through the cervex since everything they need to do is on the inside of my uterus.

Boy was I wrong!!!!  They need to make a minimum of TWO insisions ... one through my belly buttone (ewwww) to hold a camera in, and one at my biniki line to insert instruments to hold my uterus in place while they do their thing inside.  If for any reason they see things they don't like about the external shape of my uterus or anything else in there, they will have to make more insisions.

OH MY GOD!!!!!   I have never had surgery and I am such a baby!!!!!   I thought I was going to start to cry in the office ... it is bad to combine a bundle of nerves with shear terror!  I know that I am just over stressed and this is all going to be worth it, but right now I am a mess!

  • You will be alright! Big hugs to you! I know it's scary, but you can do it!
  • I did some reading into this also, expecting that when I go to the dr it may be our next step. It scared me too!! But that being said, it is a very common procedure, and so many people have it done with no problems that I have pretty much convinced myself that it will be ok to have it done- heck I am even looking forward to it! Esp since so many people get their bfp's right after this procedure and to make the pain subside for a while would be awesome!

So, try not to stress too much! We are here for you whenever you need us!

  • Thank you ladies!  I know that it will be okay and I am certainly not the first one they have done this surgery on.  I actually am very excited about it because I want to know that I am setting up a nice place for my little sticky bean to be comfy for a full 9 months.

I am just a baby about surgery!!!!  Plus, my belly button really grosses me out, I don't know why, but I think they are creepy, and the fact that they are going to cut into mine is scary!!!!

Thank you for your support, I'm so glad I have you guys to talk me through this!Smile

  • Oh, I know how you feel about the belly button thing! I am grossed out about that part too!!

  • I was expecting to have a lap/hyst, but it ended up being just a hysteroscopy. I was so glad I didn't have to have any incisions! I probably would feel like you if I had to face the lap part of it.

On the plus side, it's all the more excuse to be babied by DH. :) I hope it goes well (though I'm sure it will)!

  • Surgery is always scary but try not to worry too much - your Dr is an expert.  ((big hug)) we'll be here for ya when it's over!
