My OB and MFM said I will leave the hospital at 34 weeks, but haven't said if I go home to more bedrest. I hope to get some time btwn bedrest and their arrival.

My MFM lifted some restrictions after 34 weeks. But I wasn't off bed rest until 37 weeks. With this pregnancy, I've been more relaxed about being up, although I have no stamina and usually can't breathe freely anyway!! But, I've had two full-term pregnancies so I know my body well.
When admitted I was told HBR until I deliver. That was 23w2d. Then on Sunday at 28w1d I was sent home for SBR. They felt at 5 weeks being stable I could go home but not do anything. At 30 weeks I can stop taking Lovenox. At 32 weeks I can change to MBR an go up and down stairs occasionally then at 34 weeks I will be considered a normal pregnant lady with some restrictions. However when first admitted they said I would be lucky to make it to 34 weeks. Now the attitude is make it to 36 weeks. Not sure if that's helpful at all.
Mine said at 34 weeks I can do whatever I want, even go horseback riding lol. I think it is because they aren't expecting me to make it past 30 weeks.
If I do make it to 34 weeks I am going to take my daughter to ValleyScare (I will not be going on rides and will probably be on a electric wheelchair but hey, its going out and doing stuff with my 1st baby!), since everything else that we had planned ends before then

I don't know your specif situation, but if it helps, the doctors said the same thing to me at 21 weeks...25 weeks...30 weeks...and somehow I'm 33 today! I wish you the best of luck!

I have a "dynamic cervix" they have no clue what is causing it but I am dilated to 1cm and 90% effaced with no active contractions or changes. They finally don't want to see me weekly! Every 2 weeks with OB and 3-4 weeks with perinatal. Thank you and good luck to you as well!
aliwisewoman, I think they're basing their advice on infant development. I hit 34 weeks tomorrow (knock on wood), and they said I can increase my activity a little bit--they're talking about scaling back the bed rest even further at 37 weeks.
They also said, though, that babies born at 34 weeks typically have to spend time in the NICU, while 35 week babies often get to go home with you. That's a big difference, so I'll probably take it pretty easy until 35 weeks, with 37, of course, being the ultimate goal!
When I was on bedrest last time, they were going to release me from the hospital at 34 weeks, because they don't stop contractions with tocolytics after that time. My bedrest was up at 36 weeks. I ended up delivering at 35 weeks. At my hospital, their protocol is to keep all babies in the NICU for observation if born at less than 35 weeks. My son was perfectly healthy at 35 weeks, but I let him stay in the NICU for a few days to make sure he could feed properly, which he could. My suggestion is if the doctor says bedrest is up at 34 weeks, take it easy until 35 weeks.
